Nicholas Hoult Could Have Landed Harry Potter Over Daniel Radcliffe, And This Funny Clip Makes Me Think He Could Still Do It

As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the magical world of Harry Potter, I can’t help but ponder the “what if” scenario that Nicholas Hoult was cast as our beloved hero. With his charisma and talent, he undeniably would have brought a unique charm to the role.

Since 2001, the actors from the Harry Potter films have essentially become one with their enchanting on-screen personas. It’s always fascinating to learn about potential alternative castings, such as Nicholas Hoult possibly playing Harry. At 34 years old, he has had numerous remarkable roles and continues to add more to his repertoire in our 2024 movie lineup. Given his past talent and this amusing video, I believe he could still contend for the role in the upcoming Max series.

Hoult was recently on the Happy Sad Confused with Josh Horowitz podcast. The two chatted about his current projects, including his role as Lex Luthor in the upcoming Superman movie, premiering during our 2025 movie schedule. Horowitz also then confirmed with the Renfield star that he was high on the list to play Harry Potter over Daniel Radcliffe. He revealed that he’d had multiple callbacks but ultimately wasn’t ‘The Boy Who Lived’.

In this episode’s excerpt, the podcaster posted it on their Instagram account. During the broadcast, they jokingly hinted at the current auditions for the TV adaptation of the seven-book series to the actor from “Warm Bodies”. They both chuckled about how Hoult could convincingly portray an eleven-year-old (considering his height) with the help of a scar and glasses, which mysteriously appeared on him. Don’t miss out on this amusing moment: watch it here!

It seems neither option is incorrect, and with the filter, he definitely exudes Potter-like aura. Admittedly, his height might be problematic, but advanced technology could likely handle that. As Hoult mentioned, he’s just anticipating the phone call. To be honest, despite the project not coming to fruition for some reason, it’s heartening to learn that the former Skins actor will collaborate with Christopher Columbus on the upcoming Nosferatu.

The contrasting upcoming horror film featuring vampires is quite different from his comical ghastly production starring Nicolas Cage in 2023. Critics are already praising the movie, scheduled for release on Christmas Day, as ‘terrifyingly brilliant’ and a must-see. I’m delighted to learn that it’s receiving positive feedback, not just for the talented cast, but also because it involved working with numerous live rats on set.

Prior to the launch of the vampiric counterpoint, you can watch Douglas Henshaw in several new films this year. One of them, “The Order,” is set to premiere on December 6th and is based on true events surrounding FBI agents and a white supremacist group from the 1980s. Other movies featuring Henshaw in 2024 include “The Garfield Movie” and Clint Eastwood’s “Juror #2.

Regarding potential changes in the original Harry Potter series, we’ll always be left wondering. The story unfolded perfectly, and both Radcliffe and Hoult have thrived in their careers since the end of the eight-movie saga. If Houlty were to take on the role of the famous YA character for a future TV series, I’d certainly support him, but I believe he’s already doing quite well without it.

If you’re interested in watching Nicholas Hoult in various streaming productions, you can catch him in the movie “Renfield” by subscribing to Peacock, and in the series “The Great” on Hulu.
