As a gamer with a penchant for hip-hop and a deep respect for the evolution of music, I am thrilled about Nicki Minaj‘s upcoming deluxe version of “Pink Friday 2”. Having grown up listening to her breakthrough album “Pink Friday”, it’s fascinating to see how she is revisiting her roots while pushing musical boundaries. The clever use of samples in the recent LP is a testament to her creativity and understanding of the genre’s history.
After releasing her fifth studio album, “Pink Friday 2,” in December 2023, Nicki Minaj is planning to come out with a deluxe version of the LP. This will be her first complete album project in five years.
Furthermore, it can be considered as the follow-up to Nicki Minaj’s 2010 first album titled “Pink Friday.” This album was a significant milestone for the emerging rapper at that time, featuring collaborations with Eminem, Rihanna, Drake, will.i.am, Kanye West, and Natasha Bedingfield.

In the latest album, however, the sequel leans heavily on using other artists’ work. The song “Barbie Dangerous” borrows from Notorious B.I.G.’s “Notorious Thugs,” while “Pink Friday Girls” uses Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “Super Freaky Girl” incorporates Rick James’ “Super Freak.”
In her announcement about the upcoming luxury edition, Nicki Minaj didn’t specify a release date yet. Instead, she expressed gratitude to her fans for their inspiration and hinted that she plans to perform between two and three songs from the extended album during her tour.
Stay tuned for more details on Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 deluxe album.
