Nicole Kidman Says She Took ‘Batman Forever’ Role So She Could “Kiss Batman”

As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in various digital universes, I find myself deeply captivated by the enigmatic journey of Nicole Kidman in the realm of superhero cinema. Her decision to play Dr. Chase Meridian in Batman Forever may have left some perplexed, but as a fellow admirer of the allure of the caped crusader, I can wholeheartedly empathize with her excitement over the prospect of sharing a screen (and perhaps a kiss) with the Dark Knight.

Nicole Kidman chose to act in Joel Schumacher’s 1995 movie “Batman Forever” for an unusual motive.

In a profile for L’Officiel, Kidman reflected upon her debut in the DC Comics Universe’s cinematic world, openly acknowledging that some were taken aback by an actress of her stature playing Dr. Chase Meridian, Batman’s love interest, who was specifically crafted for the movie.

She replied, “People wonder why I’m doing this, and I tell them, ‘I get to share a kiss with Batman!'” Kidman explained her actions more clearly, stating, “What people don’t grasp is, it’s not just about the money. The films I choose to do in mainstream Hollywood are typically unique.”

Nicole Kidman found an opportunity to appear in a superhero movie when she took on the role in ‘Aquaman’ and its sequel, ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’. Yet, she shared that when director James Wan contacted her about a potential part, she was eagerly hoping it would be for a horror film. “I’d love to collaborate with him in the horror genre,” the actress expressed, speaking of the director who is known for the ‘Saw’, ‘Insidious’, and ‘The Conjuring’ franchises.

It’s interesting to note that the Oscar winner is quite fond of the horror genre, even though she doesn’t have extensive experience as a horror actress at this point. She is eagerly anticipating that her passion for such films might pave the way for the intense roles she desires. “I haven’t tackled traditional horror or hardcore horror yet,” she stated. “But I’m expressing my interest because I enjoy watching hardcore horror. I’m a fan of Ti West!”

Despite not planning a full-fledged horror movie at present, Nicole Kidman will appear in Netflix’s upcoming thriller titled “The Perfect Couple“. Debuting on September 5, this limited series is adapted from Elin Hilderbrand’s novel and sees Kidman portray Greer Garrison, a potential suspect in the murder of her son’s fiancée.
