Night Agent Season 3: This Character MUST Return!

Warning: SPOILERS for The Night Agent Season 2 are ahead!

Occasionally, it may take several months for a TV series’ renewal to be declared, which can be frustrating if the previous season left viewers hanging with cliffhangers or unresolved storylines. Fortunately, this wasn’t the case with “The Night Agent,” one of Netflix’s top binge-worthy shows, as Season 3 was confirmed last October. Now, two weeks after subscribers have access to Season 2, we’re clearly not close to the third season yet. However, I can’t wait for “The Night Agent” to come back, hoping that Sami Saidi will reappear because I want to see him work alongside Peter Sutherland again.

Who Is Sami Saidi On The Night Agent?

In the series “A Family Affair,” Marwan Kenzari’s character Sami, previously a Delta Force sergeant, is introduced. Five years before Season 2, he was wrongly court-martialed for a crime he didn’t commit. However, he managed to escape punishment when Catherine Weaver recruited him into Night Action. In the current plotline, Catherine and Peter assign Sami with a mission: traveling to Isfahan, Iran to retrieve Azita Taheri, Noor’s mother, and her brother Farhad. This is necessary as it’s the only way Noor would agree to hand over the photographs she took at the Iranian embassy, which contain sensitive documents from Ambassador Mansuri’s briefcase.

Typically, an operation like this requires weeks or even months of planning, but Sami had only 24 hours due to Farhad being conscripted into the Iranian Army. Given the short preparation time, there were many things that could go wrong, and unfortunately, they did. Farhad’s hesitance to accompany Sami attracted unwanted attention from neighbors. However, Sami managed to get both Farhad and Azita out of harm’s way. Tragically, they were stopped by two police officers, whom Sami was compelled to kill. When Farhad seized one of their weapons and fired at the Night Agent, Sami had no choice but to shoot and kill the boy as well. For the remainder of the season, Sami took care of Azita until she and Noor were eventually reunited in New York.

More Stories About The Night Agent

Gabriel Basso is already brainstorming some exciting locations for the potential third season of Night Agent, and I’m all geared up for this thrilling journey he has in store.

After Witnessing the Thrilling Fight Sequences in Season 2 of “The Night Agent,” It’s Clear Which Character Is My Preferred One (And Gabriel Basso Seems to Share This Opinion As Well)

It was sad to witness Sami Saidi being compelled to eliminate Farhad, but I felt let down when Season 2 concluded, with him merely serving as protection for Noor’s mother. Given that Catherine considered him capable enough to handle the extraction operation, it’s clear that Sami is a talented Night Agent. His ability to fluently speak multiple languages was particularly noteworthy during his initial scene. The character deserves more screen time and chances to prove himself as an agent undertaking missions similar to those we’ve seen Peter Sutherland perform for the past two seasons.

At the moment, there’s no news or indication that Marwan Kenzari will reprise his role as Sami in “The Night Agent” Season 3, but I fervently wish this changes. The interaction between Peter and Sami, whether face-to-face or over the phone, was promising, so I can only imagine how effective they would be as a team in the field. Given that Chelsea Arrington (played by Fola Evans-Akingbola) is now a series regular again, it seems likely that Peter will reunite with her. However, wouldn’t it be great if Sami could join them too? Although Season 3 appears to center around Peter investigating Jacob Monroe’s ties to the soon-to-be President Richard Hagan, it shouldn’t be difficult to create a plot where Sami is summoned to support Peter.

In an ideal scenario, Marwan Kenzari would be promoted to the primary cast of “The Night Agent” for Season 3, but I’m open to his continued appearance as a significant recurring character, provided it means more of him on the series. Sami made a strong impression in Season 2, so it would be fantastic if he and Peter could team up as true partners in future seasons.
