As a cinephile with decades of movie-watching under my belt, I must say that Amy Adams is one of those actresses who consistently delivers captivating performances. Her ability to embody various characters and bring their stories to life on screen is truly remarkable.
There’s hardly any argument that Taylor Swift is among the most well-known personalities globally. Following a span of nearly two years, her Eras Tour concludes this weekend, and it will be remembered as one of the most incredible events for the over 10 million fans who were part of her concerts. Now, these very fans are pondering potential candidates to portray one of Swift’s closest confidants if a biopic about her life ever materializes, and leading contender Amy Adams has expressed her enthusiasm for the prospect.
On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (as seen below), Adams was informed by the host about the buzz among Swift fans asking for her to play Tree Paine in a biopic about Swift’s life. Paine has been Swift’s publicist since 2014, and many have pointed out the resemblance between Paine and the Nightbitch star due to their shared red hair. The idea of playing this character appeals to Adams, especially since she has recently become a big fan of the “All Too Well” singer.
“That sounds fantastic! It would be such a blast. If it brings me nearer to Taylor, then it’s definitely worth it. I’ve long admired her music and respected her, and attending the Eras Tour – thanks to a friend’s ticket – turned me into a fan at 50. Now, I can call myself a 50-year-old Swiftie, or as I like to put it, a ‘shifty 50 Swiftie.’ Isn’t that neat?
Don’t get too excited, though, as a Swift biopic is not in the works at this time, and for now it’s all fan-casting. The closest we got this year is the Lifetime holiday movie Christmas in the Spotlight, which plays fast and loose with the storied romance between Swift and her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The fictional tale was inspired by the pair, who have been dating since the summer of 2023, and are still going strong.
Amy Adams Shines in ‘Nightbitch’
In theaters starting December 6, Adams assumes the role of a stay-at-home mother who occasionally turns into a dog in the film “Nightbitch,” based on Rachel Yoder’s remarkable 2021 novel with the same title. This is quite different from her previous role as a publicist, but she fully embraces this unique character in the movie, which made its debut at TIFF in September and has since won several festival awards.
Could Adams be in the running for a Best Actress Oscar next year? It’s possible when you consider just how much she shines in the movie. Look, the premise is out there, we admit that, but she plays it straight as Mother in the horror-comedy, which examines themes of gender equality, bodily autonomy, and the perils of parenthood and how it changes a woman. Her performance is second to none, and honestly, if Emma Stone can win one for Poor Things, then we think Adams should at least be in the conversation come awards season.
Feel free to form your own opinion about the authenticity of the statement as “Nightbitch” movie will be released nationwide this weekend, and you can anticipate streaming it on Hulu in the near future.
