As a long-time sneakerhead and proud alumnus of Florida A&M University (FAMU), I am absolutely thrilled to see Nike rolling out these stunning LeBron PEs for my beloved school! Growing up in Tallahassee, FAMU’s vibrant campus was always a beacon of pride and unity in our community.
The design of the new models is truly exceptional – the alternating white and green colorways perfectly capture the essence of FAMU spirit. The Nike LeBron 22 with its nubuck leather upper and curvaceous stitching, inspired by the iconic Swoosh, is a masterpiece that will surely turn heads on the court. And let’s not forget the NXXT Gen PEs with their pebbled leather construction and classic rattlesnake motif – it’s like they took a bite out of tradition and made it fresh again!
It’s heartening to see Nike continue its longstanding partnership with FAMU, providing our student-athletes with exclusive gear that showcases the unique history and culture of our HBCU. Although I may not be able to get my hands on a pair, I’ll proudly wear my Rattler pride wherever I go!
On a lighter note, I can’t help but wonder if LeBron himself has a secret stash of these FAMU-inspired sneakers hidden away for special occasions. Maybe one day he’ll slip on a pair during a game and give us all a surprise flashback to our alma mater!
Starting in 2025, Nike has introduced a new lineup of LeBron PEs (Player Exclusives) specifically designed for Florida A&M University, an HBCU where they have a six-year contract with LeBron James for providing basketball shoes and uniforms.
The main Instagram account for our school’s athletics department posted pictures of the latest designs, featuring the upcoming Nike LeBron 22 shoes and some experimental prototypes labeled as Nike LeBron NXXT Gen PEs.

Both silhouettes come in home and away color schemes that switch between white and green as the dominant tones. The Nike LeBron 22 sports a nubuck leather upper and intricate stitching resembling the signature Swoosh, with an electric orange version of the logo on the midsole. On the other hand, the NXXT Gen PEs use a pebbled leather build, featuring the traditional rattlesnake pattern of Florida A&M on the tongue.
Unlike previous versions of Florida A&M’s Nike basketball shoes that were sold to the general public, such as their 2023 LeBron 7s, this new collection won’t be accessible for purchase by the public. Instead, these unique designs will only be reserved for the school and its athletes.
