Nike’s Kobe Brand Launches “Year of the Mamba” Apparel Collection

As a gamer who’s grown up with Kobe Bryant’s legendary career, I can’t help but feel a mix of nostalgia and excitement upon hearing about Nike’s “Year of the Mamba” collection for Lunar New Year 2025. The Black Mamba twist on this apparel is a fitting tribute to Kobe’s indomitable spirit and unparalleled achievements in the NBA.

As the Lunar New Year approaches, Nike honors the memory of the iconic basketball player, Kobe Bryant. This year, the Year of the Snake, sees a Black Mamba-themed revamp of apparel from Kobe’s brand. They are launching a special “Year of the Mamba” collection, limited edition and inspired by the Nike Kobe 5 sneaker with a Lunar New Year design.

In commemoration of Kobe Bryant’s remarkable achievements, this clothing line showcases essential wardrobe items such as long-sleeved shirts, joggers, crewnecks, jackets, and more, all adorned with the unique Year of the Snake Mamba emblem. Notable pieces include the collection’s red, black, and white long-sleeve shirts. The chest sports a small Kobe logo, while the back boasts a stylized snake-embellished Kobe insignia, where the snake is delicately outlined in gold and symbolizes the five NBA championship rings Kobe earned throughout his career.

The championship mindset continues throughout the capsule as it also includes cozy essentials like crewnecks and joggers featuring the Mamba detailing. For the joggers which appear in a white and black colorway, a gold mamba snakeskin pattern runs down the side of the pants. Similarly, the crewneck features two mamba snakes embroidered in gold running down the sleeves. Two premium jackets priced at $275 USD each are slated to be arriving in black and sail. They are expected to be available though the details of pieces are kept hidden for now.

The “Year of the Mamba” collection releases on Nike on January 9, 2025.
