Ninja calls out ‘children’ who play Fortnite’s Build Mode

As a long-time gamer and follower of the Fortnite community, I can totally understand where Ninja is coming from. With his extensive experience and iconic status in the gaming world, it’s no surprise that he has formed such a strong opinion on Build Mode.

Among all players, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins is undeniably an expert in distinguishing between a Cluster Clinger and a Combat Shotgun in Fortnite. Despite taking breaks from the game at times, his popularity as the most-watched account on Twitch ensures him a substantial income by continuing to play Fortnite, the widely-adored battle royale title.

In Fortnite, Ninja was the initial recipient of recognition in the Icon Series and boasts an exclusive skin within the game. Although Fortnite has undergone significant developments since Ninja’s groundbreaking stream with Drake, Travis Scott, and JuJu Smith-Schuster, there is still one longstanding feature that he isn’t fond of.

Just as people strongly identify with House of the Dragon’s Team Black or Team Green, Manchester City or Manchester United, and Kamala Harris or Donald Trump, individuals also have strong opinions regarding Build Mode and Zero Build. To clarify, Ninja has publicly expressed his disdain towards those who favor Build Mode, referring to them as immature players.

Ninja expresses amazement that there are still children, as they’re called, who try to manipulate him into playing Builds. He is 33 years old and insists on having a maximum ping of 40. He firmly declares that he will never play Builds again.

In his own words, Ninja admits he struggles and falls behind. Yet, he takes pride in this, expressing, “I don’t care that I can’t do it like before…” and “Building used to impress women, but that’s not the case anymore…“.

In an intense outburst, he declared that only young children, who are uninformed about his gaming choices, criticize him for not using the “Build” feature. He expressed indifference towards these critics and even threatened to confront them directly, as well as their parents, asserting they should be held accountable for raising such immature individuals.

Ninja expressed that he’s catering to a new audience now, attracting those who prefer Zero Build. He playfully teased Ali “SypherPK” Hassan as the lone veteran streamer still sticking with Build Mode, implying that he feels more connected to younger viewers.

Many people shared Ninja’s perspective, with one supporter commenting, “I was terrible at constructing even in my twenties, now in my thirties and I’m done with builds. I’ve come from first-person shooter and third-person action games without building features. I’ll continue with ZB.”

One person agreed, “Yeah, he’s spot on. I’ve attempted to create in those communal spaces but the children destroy it so badly that I no longer engage with them,” while another added, “The most succinct description I’ve come across is ‘you fire a single bullet at someone and they instantaneously construct a grand five-story building.’

It seems that some casual players are finding it harder to access Build Mode lately, and while it’s impressive that pro players like Ninja admit they can’t keep up with the intense building process, it’s understandable if you prefer the simpler zero-build option.
