Nintendo is making it official: The Nintendo Switch 2 gaming console will arrive in 2025.
On Thursday morning, Nintendo, a prominent Japanese game company, unveiled its latest console, the Switch, along with the initial official photos of the device.
Or, in an even more casual tone:
Nintendo, a big name in Japanese gaming, showed off their new console, the Switch, complete with its first-ever official pictures, on Thursday morning.
The new Switch 2 model is set to offer unique games all its own, while still being compatible with both physical and digitally downloaded games from its predecessor, initially launched back in 2017.
New video game consoles are typically launched only once or twice per decade, and these launches from Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft often generate significant buzz. Simultaneously, these corporations usually debut significant new games in conjunction with their new gaming systems.
Video game consoles are rarely unveiled more than once or twice a decade, and each release from Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft captures massive public interest. At the same time, these tech giants often introduce major new video games along with their latest devices.
For Nintendo, this encompasses some of the most renowned intellectual properties within the entertainment industry, such as the universe of Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., Donkey Kong, and many more.
Nintendo has revealed that they will unveil further information about the upcoming Switch 2 at a global premiere event scheduled for April 2nd. In addition, the company plans to take the new console on a worldwide tour, allowing players to test it out in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, London, Paris, and Tokyo.
