Nita Ambani, wife of influential business magnate Mukesh Ambani, has a strong, intimate bond with sports, particularly cricket. Not only does she share ownership of the IPL team Mumbai Indians, but she is also frequently spotted passionately supporting her squad during games. Lately, she disclosed that cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar played a significant role in increasing her understanding of the game.
In a chat with Bloomberg Television, Nita Ambani revealed that she delved into the world of cricket by voraciously reading about it and conversing with players. She acknowledged that understanding this game isn’t straightforward and demands a thorough comprehension. At first, she admitted to having no knowledge of the sport, but her passion for cricket propelled her to grasp its intricacies.
I had the chance to chat with Sachin Tendulkar, often referred to as the Cricket God. I was a bit nervous about asking him potentially awkward questions. During another interview, I found myself in an awkward situation when I was interviewing a globally recognized bowler in India. He was sitting right there at the table, but I didn’t recognize him. So, I picked up the phone and asked Sachin for help, saying ‘Sachin, can you guide me—what should I discuss with him?'” She chuckled as she reminisced about the incident.
She openly showed delight as she watched her beloved Mumbai Indians thrive under the guidance of her son, Akash Ambani. Moreover, she passionately discussed her admiration for the Mumbai Indians women’s team, explaining that it brings immense pleasure to her heart.
She expressed her admiration for the women’s team by emphasizing the numerous hardships these players face. “When you witness them uniting from secluded Indian villages to play for you and share their experiences, it’s incredibly inspiring. It motivates other young girls to engage in sports,” she stated.
Discussing her deep-rooted love for cricket, Nita expressed that her true calling lies within education, and she strongly advocates for a seamless blend of learning and sports. Furthermore, she highlighted an encouraging change in parents’ mindsets, as an increasing number now view sports as a promising career path.
In summary, she shared her aspiration for India to be a beacon on the international scene and acknowledged that the Paralympians serve as her greatest inspiration.
She expressed that it’s incredibly uplifting to see how these exceptional kids handle their unique talents, overcome hurdles, and even compete globally. What’s truly important, she emphasized, is this very aspect.
