'No Good Deed' Debuts a Stacked Cast and Wild Trailer

As a lifelong Angeleno who’s been struggling to keep my head above water in this city’s ever-inflating real estate market, I can’t help but feel a strange kinship with the characters of Netflix’s upcoming series, No Good Deed. The trailer for this comedy about the absurdity and cutthroat competition that comes with buying a home in LA has me both cackling with dark humor and squirming in recognition.

The housing market in Los Angeles is undeniably chaotic, as witnessed by someone struggling to pay rent there. Soon, Netflix will exploit this situation fully with their new series, “No Good Deed.” In the recently unveiled trailer for this project from Liz Feldman, starring Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano, we glimpse how humorous, and perhaps lethal, it can be to attempt purchasing a property in the city of angels.

In the synopsis, it’s stated that when Lydia (Kudrow) and Paul (Romano) decide to leave their empty nest and start anew, they put up for sale their stunning 1920s Spanish-style villa in one of LA’s most sought-after neighborhoods. This sets off a real estate madness as numerous families compete to purchase what they consider their ideal home, believing it will solve all their diverse issues. However, Lydia and Paul have learned the hard way that sometimes the house of your dreams can turn into an actual nightmare.

In the narrative, Paul and Lydia find themselves confronted with the need to expose the hidden, ominous truths that have long haunted their residence. It eventually becomes clear to them that the only means of breaking free from their past is by bravely acknowledging and confronting it. To put it simply: they’re in for a tough ride.

What Is No Good Deed About?

The series comes from Emmy-winning creator and showrunner Liz Feldman, and is said to focus on the highs and lows of searching for a safe, happy home—and just how far people are willing to go to protect themselves and their loved ones in the process. Oh, and whatever this big, dark, bombastic secret at the heart of this seemingly happy home is (because why not?), is sure to complicate the search for a buyer, and/or make the lives of our sellers a total disaster. But, truly, is there anything more enjoyable to watch than the calamitous misfortunes of people wealthy enough to own a dreamy home such as this in Los Angeles? In this economy, it’s all we’ve got.

The cast of this series is truly outstanding, featuring the likes of Linda Cardellini, O-T Fagbenle, Abbi Jacobson, Denis Leary, Poppy Liu, Teyonah Parris, Matt Rogers, and Luke Wilson. With its premise revolving around the struggles of buying a home in an overactive housing market, No Good Deed promises to strike a humorous chord with many while also eliciting a touch of schadenfreude-induced satisfaction from those who find themselves priced out of homeownership (a group that likely includes most of us, let’s face it).

The upcoming Netflix show is scheduled for release on December 12th. This will be a comeback for Feldman on the streaming platform since the conclusion of her critically-acclaimed dark comedy series, “Dead To Me.” In this new series, Feldman and one of her co-stars from “Dead To Me,” Linda Cardellini, are set to collaborate once again. The show is anticipated to deliver the same exhilarating vibe as seen earlier. Previously, Feldman has worked on writing for shows like “Blue Collar TV,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” and “2 Broke Girls.” She also created the series “One Big Happy,” featuring Elisha Cuthbert and Nick Zano, which revolved around a lesbian and her straight male friend’s decision to have a baby together.

Until the series drops on December 12, we’re going to try and let our good deeds go unpunished.
