The news has been verified that her father and actor Suniel Shetty announced, “She expressed, ‘I don’t wish to, Father,’ and she simply walked away. And it is this determination to follow her own path by saying, ‘I’m not keen. I don’t want to act in films,’ which I truly admire.” Following the film “Motichoor Chaknachoor,” many opportunities came her way, but she responded, “I don’t want to. I’m content as is.
She mentioned that Athiya decided to retreat from public attention to devote more time to her child and lead a more secluded lifestyle.
Athiya Shetty’s career graph
In 2015, Athiya Shetty started her acting career with the movie “Hero,” which was produced by Salman Khan. Sharing the screen with Sooraj Pancholi, she portrayed Radha Mathur, the daughter of a DCP who develops feelings for her kidnapper. Despite the film receiving mixed criticism, the song “O Khuda” featuring her became popular among young people.
In the year 2017, she made a shift into comedy with Anees Bazmee’s Mubarakan, portraying Binkle Sandhu, a traditional Punjabi girl amidst a tumultuous love triangle on screen. The movie performed well at the box office and provided Athiya with an opportunity to hone her comedic delivery alongside experienced actors such as Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor.
2019 saw one of her most acclaimed performances in Motichoor Chaknachoor, where she starred alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui. In this role as Anita Awasthi, a small-town girl with ambitious dreams to live abroad, Athiya presented a realistic and heartfelt portrayal. Despite the movie’s modest box office success, her acting was praised for its genuine feel and self-restraint.
Beyond movies, Athiya made an appearance in the popular dance song “Tere Naal Nachna” in 2018, which was produced by Bhushan Kumar. Her commanding screen presence and elegant dance moves contributed significantly to her rising fame.
Although she didn’t appear frequently in films, Athiya made a unique space for herself through her poise and elegance. Now moving away from acting, she departs with a humble yet impactful career trajectory, characterized by select roles, popular songs, and a subtle but noble exit from the Bollywood industry.
