As an ardent fan of Oasis who has grown up with their music and witnessed their tumultuous relationship unfold over the years, I can hardly contain my excitement! The prospect of seeing Liam and Noel Gallagher share the stage once more is truly mind-boggling.
The news is confirmed: Noel and Liam Gallagher will reunite Oasis for a string of huge, financially successful comeback performances in 2025.
The band’s formal online platforms hinted at a significant disclosure scheduled for 8 a.m. on Tuesday (U.K. time). This news is bound to thrill fans, as it validates the fervent conjecture in the British media regarding a potential comeback.
“This is it, this is happening,” Oasis’ official X/Twitter account tweeted. Tickets are set to go on sale 9 a.m. U.K. time on Aug. 31. The gigs announced so far include Cardiff (Principality Stadium July 4/5), Manchester (Heaton Park, July 11/12/19/20), London (Wembley Stadium, July 25/26 and Aug. 2/3), Edinburgh (Murrayfield Stadium Aug. 8/9) and Dublin (Croke Park, Aug. 16/17).
Over the weekend, news outlets hinted at the Gallagher brothers ending their decades-long dispute that had frequently made headlines. According to music industry sources, The Times of London reported on Saturday that Oasis might perform a series of concerts during the summer of 2025, with performances scheduled for Heaton Park in Manchester and Wembley Stadium in London. The Times also mentioned whispers of Oasis possibly taking the main stage at Glastonbury Festival next year.
2025 summer in the U.K. promises a significant revival for the live music industry, which has faced challenges due to economic downturn, inflation, and a cost-of-living crisis. These difficulties have led at least 42 music festivals to postpone, cancel, or shut down in 2024, as reported by the Association of Independent Festivals. Fortunately, next summer seems devoid of major sporting events and concerts of Taylor Swift’s caliber, which could pave the way for Oasis to dominate the music scene and capture the hearts of music enthusiasts.
30 years from now will be the anniversary of the release of Oasis’ most celebrated, best-selling, and critically acclaimed album, “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?”. This iconic album, which has sold over 22 million copies globally and propelled the band to success in the U.S., features the hit tracks “Some Might Say”, “Roll With It”, “Wonderwall”, “Don’t Look Back in Anger”, and “Champagne Supernova”.
Since August 2009, Oasis has not performed together as a band. The group disbanded prior to their appearance at the Rock en Seine festival in France that month. Reports then indicated that there had been several heated arguments and even physical fights between Liam and Noel Gallagher leading up to and during the festival in France.
From the inception of Oasis, the contentious dynamic between Liam and Noel has been a notable feature of the Manchester band, with their public disputes serving as consistent material for tabloids throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. This strife even caused both members to leave temporarily at times.
“The moment has arrived, it’s all happening now!”
