Oasis Photographs Are Reimagined in New Tokyo Exhibition

Oh, what a delightful news for this old rock ‘n’ roll soul! As a die-hard Oasis fan since their humble beginnings in Manchester, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming exhibition in Tokyo – “Oasis Origin + Reconstruction” at New Gallery.

A unique exhibition showcasing photographs by Oasis’s long-term photographer, Jill Furmanovsky, and collages by Japanese artist and graphic designer, Kosuke Kawamura, is set to bring “Oasis fever” to Tokyo.

Renowned British photographer Jill Furmanovsky has captured iconic images of some of rock and roll’s greatest acts, such as Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, and The Who. This year, she received the esteemed ICON Award at the Abbey Road Music Photography Awards, with Noel Gallagher personally presenting the honor, praising Furmanovsky as “one of my close friends.” A collection of photographs taken while touring with the band from their early days in Manchester to their global success in 2009 will be on display.

Additionally, visitors can expect custom collage artworks and t-shirt designs by Kosuke Kawamura on display. This innovative Japanese artist has left a distinctive mark in the art world over the last decade, using vintage advertisements, posters, and mass media pieces he dissects and reassembles to challenge traditional design norms and stimulate fresh conversations about familiar symbols. The gallery will offer collage works that mimic the cover photos of Oasis’ popular single “Champagne Supernova” and album titled “Time Flies… 1994–2009“, along with a few exclusive t-shirt editions.

On Thursday, October 31st, “Oasis Origin + Reconstruction” is set to debut. The opening event will occur a day earlier, on Wednesday, October 30th. To get further details and confirm your attendance, kindly respond with your RSVP.
