Oblivion Remastered Images Leak: Shadow Drop Rumored This Week

Although Xbox boasts some impressive exclusives headed to PS5 like Indiana Jones and Forza Horizon 5, this month’s most anticipated release might not yet be unveiled. Speculations are rife about an Oblivion remake, and recently, images of the Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered have surfaced on the developer’s website in advance of a potential stealth launch.

Initially, there were whispers about a remake of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, but recent leaked images suggesting cover art indicate that it’s now being referred to as a remaster, according to the user extas1s on platform X.

Beyond what was posted on X, numerous other pictures have been discovered on the official Virtuos Games website, as mentioned on Reddit. Some of these images showcase gameplay scenes similar to the one depicted below:

In other words, apart from the cover art you saw on X, more images have popped up on Reddit that were found on the official Virtuos Games site. These include snapshots of the actual gameplay, like the image shown here:

Although we’re yet to announce an exact release date for the remaster, respected gaming insider Jeff Grubb hints that it might drop during “the week of April 21st” as a surprise release. Based on leaked images, this update is expected to be playable on both PS5 and PC platforms, with Xbox Game Pass subscribers gaining access on the same day. Regrettably, there’s no information suggesting Nintendo Switch 2 compatibility at this time.

At this point in time, information is limited, but in January, MP1st stated that the game is a complete remake of Oblivion using Unreal Engine 5. According to reports, it features upgraded systems like stamina, sneaking, blocking, archery, hit reaction, and user interface. Additionally, there are rumors suggesting that the new blocking system draws inspiration from Souls-like games.

It’s hoped that the remaster will release next week, according to rumors. Oblivion is one of the best RPGs ever made, and it would be wonderful to re-explore The Elder Scrolls before we grow too old waiting for Elder Scrolls 6.
