“Obsidian” and “University Blue” Return to the Air Jordan 1

As a seasoned sneakerhead with decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that 2025 is shaping up to be a monumental year for the Air Jordan 1. With the 40th anniversary looming, it’s safe to assume that we’re in for a treat. From iconic colorways like ’85 “Bred” to collaborations with Off-White™, the anticipation is palpable.

Product: Air Jordan 1 Low OG (Obsidian Edition)

2025 approaches, marking not only the year but also the 40th anniversary of the iconic Air Jordan 1. To simply call it a significant year for sneakers would be an understatement. A variety of classic styles such as the ’85 “Bred” and innovative designs like the Off-White™-inspired pair are anticipated to debut. What’s more, the anticipation builds as a fresh “Obsidian” rendition of the Air Jordan 1 Low OG has been scheduled for release in 2025.

The new design mimics the color scheme of the 2019 Air Jordan 1 High “Obsidian”, combining a deep blue shade with a hint of “University Blue”. Like the original, it also features an off-white leather base, with dark blue accents on the overlays and Swooshes, contrasting against a lighter blue heel area. The midsole is stitched in an off-white color, while the outsole remains dark blue, completing the new pair’s design.

As I’m typing this, Jordan Brand hasn’t revealed their release schedule for the “Obsidian” color variant of the Air Jordan 1 Low OG yet. Keep an eye out for official images as we anticipate the shoe to be released on March 22 of next year via Nike SNKRS and select retailers, priced at a starting point of $140 USD.
