Greetings! You’ve arrived at Off The AppStore, a unique weekly feature. Unlike other games we discuss here, while you can indeed play these on your mobile device, they are distinct in that they function beyond the usual platforms: the Google Play Store and the Apple AppStore.
As a gaming enthusiast, you might need to put in a bit of effort when it comes to downloading non-traditional app stores or APKs, or simply playing games directly through your phone’s browser. Rest assured, we’ll provide clear instructions for each game. So, dive in and discover a fresh gaming adventure that lies beyond the conventional AppStore!
Every time we need a strategic battle, we turn to the familiar entrance of the tower defense game. Though the concepts of ‘tower’ and ‘defense’ have expanded into various themes and genres over time, they essentially boil down to safeguarding your possessions from those who wish to steal or destroy them. With Linzo expanding the genre’s collection, we now have a fresh choice called Feudal Foes. As you might expect, our journey will take us back to an era filled with conflict, but remember that it won’t be an easy path and your tower will heavily depend on you and your tactical decisions.
In Feudal Foes, you journey back to a pixelated feudal era where friendly races appear as jovial squares and rectangles. Instead of safeguarding your tower from adversaries hailing from wild terrains or distant lands, the storyline takes an unexpected twist: both kingdoms share the same territory. Your realm and another are embroiled in a classic Wild West standoff, with the adage “the town ain’t big enough for the two of us.”
In this land, each region will host not one but two towers – yours and your rival’s. Instead of opting for diplomacy, war becomes the only viable solution. Your troops are eagerly awaiting the battle call!
When the fight kicks off, I’ll see my troops marching out from our castle, following a well-trodden dirt path to take down the opposing tower. But guess what? The enemy isn’t just going to sit back and watch – they’re planning an attack too! So it’s time to strategize. Not every soldier is built for combat, and those who aren’t need to be positioned along their approach to halt them in their tracks. Each of my defenders has unique stats – speed, damage, range, and special abilities based on whether they wield weapons or cast spells. As they fend off the enemy, I gather loot from their pockets, which can be used to beef up my defenses even more.
If you’re feeling generous, you could shower your soldiers with gold, allowing them to upgrade their gear or recruit new troops. Each soldier has unique attributes like speed and health, creating diversity within your army. In the tactical strategy game Feudal Foes, it’s essential to vary your army composition to outmaneuver and breach the fortifications set up by enemy towers.
An intriguing aspect is that while the game initially offers a single-player mode, there are hints of a potential multiplayer feature in the future, allowing you and possibly a partner (or not) to join forces and vie for control of the town against other players.
Feudal Foes can be played on its itch.io page!
