Greetings! You’ve entered Off The AppStore, a unique weekly segment. Unlike other games we discuss here, which you can certainly enjoy on your mobile device, these games function beyond the boundaries of the common platforms – the Google Play Store and the Apple AppStore.
This implies that you might need to put some effort into downloading different app markets or APKs, or you could simply play the games directly in your browser. However, we’ll be sure to provide instructions for each game. Continue reading to discover a fresh game or an exciting experience outside of the traditional AppStore.
As a gamer, I find myself in one of two categories: either I eagerly welcome the arrival of a storm or I shudder at its approach. There might be other gamers out there, but for now, let’s focus on us. When a storm strikes, it becomes an opportunity for me and many others to indulge in relaxation, diving into various games spanning from leisurely to intensely engaging. Occasionally, I find myself immersed in games that bring joy and vitality. Yet, there are moments when I seek out titles that reflect the gloomy and ominous atmosphere of the storm outside, offering a sense of comforting solace as I retreat into my gaming sanctuary. However, MoonLight reminds us that the real danger may not be just the storm warning but the chilling presence it brings in with it.
This side-scrolling 2D pixel-art game is a survival horror title set within confined surroundings. You assume the role of an individual residing in a secluded wooden cabin, presumably far from civilization. The motive for this isolation isn’t specified, yet it appears to be an escape from a distressing situation. A tempest rages beyond, hindering movement and communication. Your main tasks involve exploring the cabin, ensuring all is well, and combating feelings of cabin fever.
As a gamer holed up indoors, I can’t help but feel like the outdoors is encroaching on my safe space. A chilling assortment of shadowy figures with twisted features seem to be waiting just outside the cabin windows, adding an extra layer of dread to the isolation. With the doors fortified, it’s the fragile windows that are my weak points. To survive, I have to play a game of hide-and-seek with my tormentor, both hiding and confronting them as they materialize in the windows. However, being human means I’m not immune to the paralyzing fear these ghastly apparitions evoke. I need to keep a keen eye on each window to efficiently identify which ones conceal my next threat.
Storm Warning employs a traditional horror device by setting a foreboding mood with intense storm conditions that complicate your attempts to escape. Your survival depends on your agility within the cabin, collecting data, and interacting with items at will. The longer you survive, the more ghostly apparitions you’ll encounter. To endure, you must confront your fears as the rain pours relentlessly upon your sanctuary.
You can play Storm Warning from its itch.io page!
