This year, after making a comeback at the PGA Show, Nike has been intensifying its golf-related projects by introducing the Nike Air Max Plus Golf shoe, which honors THE PLAYERS Championship. Unlike last season, the inclusion of the authentic PLAYERS logo on the soles indicates that this year’s model is an officially licensed product.
In addition to the tournament-branded insoles, the new pair comes in a fresh color scheme consisting of cream, white, and gold. Notably, the tongue of the shoe carries a goat emblem, while the heels exhibit a pony hair texture – a nod to the original groundskeeping strategy at TPC Sawgrass, which was modeled after a creative solution devised by late golf course architect Pete Dye using local farmer’s livestock.
Take a closer look and mark your calendars for March 10, as these shoes are set to launch with an estimated retail price of $215 USD. Given the official tournament branding, it’s possible you might find them on sale at the official tournament merchandise tents as well.
