Olivia Munn Opens Up About Feeling “Insecure” Filming Sex Scenes Because of Her Cancer Scars

Olivia Munn openly discusses her apprehensions about filming intimate scenes following her breast cancer treatment.

In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, published last Friday, Munn admitted that she felt uncomfortable filming intimate scenes for their new show “Your Friends & Neighbors” alongside Jon Hamm due to the visibility of her cancer scars.

The actress shared her concerns, explaining that she felt anxious about filming intimate scenes due to her numerous visible and hidden scars.

In the television series, Hamm reappears in a significant leading role, sharing a friends-with-benefits dynamic with Sam (Munn). As Munn described, “She yearns for something deeper from him than he’s ready to offer, and their bond is solely sexual.” Munn emphasized her desire to accurately portray this dynamic, stating that the sex scenes should be raw and powerful, without any hesitation or restraint.

However, exposing herself on screen made Munn feel exposed and insecure. But with each instance, she admitted to feeling more comfortable and confident.

In March 2024, Munn publicly shared that she had been privately fighting Stage 1 breast cancer for the past ten months. After her diagnosis, she underwent several procedures, including a double mastectomy, removal of lymph nodes, reconstructive surgery, and a hysterectomy.

Looking back on those events now, Munn expressed, “Having spent a year fighting cancer and undergoing five operations, my aim isn’t to be remembered as someone who’s ill. My aim is to make it past this ordeal and return to my usual self again.
