Omnimovement appears to have nuked slide cancelling for Black Ops 6

Omnimovement appears to have nuked slide cancelling for Black Ops 6

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia as slide cancelling seems to be taking its final breaths. The days of Call of Duty’s boots gracing the ground are long gone, replaced by jet-packs and the era of slide cancelling.

It’s been some time since the boots of Call of Duty’s longtime heroes touched the ground following decades of jet-packs and the rise of slide cancelling. As we step into a new story in 2024, it appears that Treyarch is attempting to redefine its style once more.

2019’s Modern Warfare introduced a movement mechanic that later took over in Warzone and became a defining characteristic of the series. However, it appears that Black Ops 6 will be breaking from this trend with their new omnimovement feature. Notably, slide canceling has been completely eliminated from the gameplay mechanics in this latest installment.

Black Ops 6 reportedly scraps slide cancelling

Imminent universal motion is approaching, and due to significant leaks, we’ve been given a sneak peek at its operation. This includes the ability to dive and glide in various directions.

As a gamer, I’ve enjoyed mastering slides and dolphin dives in this game, but it seems that the technique for cancelling knee skids might be on its way out.

During the leaks, no indication of canceling slides was observed, and some players reported their unsuccessful attempts. As a result, those who leak claim that the ability to cancel slides has been removed or discontinued.

There is CURRENTLY no slide cancelling in Black Ops 6

Keep in mind that there’s a grain of salt needed for these leaks, considering the Black Ops 6 Beta is scheduled for later in August. The developers might make adjustments to this feature before the game’s release.

One leaker stated, “At the moment, the feature you’re referring to isn’t present in the version that’s been leaked and is being broadcasted. However, it might be included in the final release. We can only find out by waiting.”

Recalling the Beta version of Modern Warfare 2, it lacked the slide canceling feature as Infinity Ward aimed to phase out the advanced movement trend, preferring instead to create a game with a slower pace. Later, they reconsidered this decision.

In Black Ops 6, sliding will still influence gameplay, as it seems that players can aim down sights while moving (a feature not previously available). However, when it comes to increasing speed, leaping could potentially be a more effective method in this game’s version.
