‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ Follow-Up in the Works with Brad Pitt Starring, David Fincher Directing a Quentin Tarantino Script

TV star Cliff Booth and his loyal stuntman Rick Dalton may be getting back together.

A sequel to Quentin Tarantino‘s film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” is being planned, but this time it’s David Fincher who will be directing instead of Tarantino. Brad Pitt and potentially Leonardo DiCaprio are considering returning for their beloved and award-winning roles in the movie.

The sequel to “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” by Quentin Tarantino is being developed, with David Fincher stepping into the director’s role instead of Tarantino. Brad Pitt and possibly Leonardo DiCaprio are contemplating reprising their acclaimed roles from the original film.

According to a reliable source, Quentin Tarantino has drafted the screenplay for an upcoming Netflix production that may begin filming as early as late summer.

Even though today is April Fool’s Day, this information isn’t a prank. It’s not exactly a continuation of “Once Upon a Time” but rather a work that draws inspiration from it. The Playlist initially reported on the movie.

This news isn’t an April Fool’s joke, and it’s not a new story in “Once Upon a Time,” but something inspired by it. The Playlist first shared this info.

According to a confidential source, it’s been clarified that the secretive project isn’t titled “The Movie Critic.” Instead, it seems this is the working title for the movie Quentin Tarantino has been crafting, which is said to be his 10th and possibly final film.

Without clear explanation, Quentin Tarantino put aside a project known as Movie Critic, which was supposedly set in the 1970s. The narrative seemed to revolve around a movie critic for an adult magazine. Moreover, it was intended to bring Brad Pitt back as Booth, portraying the laid-back stuntman and chauffeur to troubled star Dalton, reprising his role.

As a devoted fan, I’ve learned that Pitt was captivated by the ever-changing script and the role he was offered in it. He approached the director about the possibility of another filmmaker taking over the unnamed project. Tarantino responded casually, “It depends on who.” After some time, Pitt returned with Fincher by his side. Fincher and Pitt have a strong, proven partnership, having collaborated on films like Se7en, Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and World War Z. With Tarantino’s approval, the project was revamped and acquired by Netflix, where Fincher has an established first-look deal.

It remains uncertain where Quentin Tarantino could produce a sequel to his movie “Once Upon a Time” except for Sony, as they financed and distributed the 2019 film. Tarantino has a distinctive contract that grants him an equity share in the movie, which grows annually over a 20-year period before the movie returns to him entirely. It is plausible that he retained rights for sequels or spinoffs, and there’s also ambiguity regarding what specifically qualifies as a “Once Upon a Time” sequel.

Additionally, it’s not entirely clear if DiCaprio will be part of the production. He’s reportedly still negotiating to play the lead in an Evel Knievel film produced by Paramount, set to begin shooting this summer. Furthermore, he’s also rumored to be considering a role in a Martin Scorsese project. The extent of his character’s involvement in these scripts is yet to be determined.
