As a car enthusiast with a penchant for rare and meticulously crafted machines, I can’t help but be utterly smitten by the Gunther Werks’ 1996 Porsche 911 Speedster, affectionately known as the “Skyfall.” With its Aston Martin Silver exterior and Mercedes-Benz interior, this beauty is a true fusion of automotive elegance.
A uniquely crafted and highly improved 1996 Porsche 911 Speedster, customized by Gunther Werks and famously known as the “Skyfall” edition, will soon be available for bidding through RM Sotheby’s. This exclusive piece, one of just 25 made, boasts an extensive use of carbon fiber in both structure and function, making it one of the most thoroughly upgraded Porsche 911 models ever constructed.
As a longtime automotive enthusiast with a passion for both luxury and performance, I must say that this car has truly caught my eye. The combination of Aston Martin elegance and Mercedes-Benz power is something I haven’t seen before. My personal preference leans towards classic British design, but the Mercedes-Benz interior trim adds a touch of sophistication that I can appreciate.
Gunther Werks, located in Huntington Beach, California, has meticulously revamped the 993-era Porsche 911 into a masterpiece of contemporary engineering. This vehicle boasts a carbon fiber frame and exterior components, an exclusive DGR active coilover suspension system, and customized suspension parts. The engine, refurbished by Rothsport Road and Race in Oregon, incorporates forged internal parts and race-ready equipment, delivering exceptional performance.
1. The Speedster’s design elegantly references Porsche’s iconic convertible models by featuring a briefed windscreen and no side windows. Moreover, Gunther Werks’ innovative use of carbon fiber in its structure makes it twice as rigid as the standard coupe without any extra weight. The 992 model is distinct due to its red GT brake calipers, polished nickel-finished mirrors, optional carbon magnesium Fuchs-style wheels with a Graphite finish, and inside showcases a mix of exposed carbon fiber, Classic Red Nappa leather, and Dunkegrau Alcantara.
Boasting just 93 miles on its odometer, this scarcely found Gunther Werks Speedster is projected to sell for up to $1,100,000 USD. It will be showcased and open for bids during RM Sotheby’s Monterey Sale, commencing August 15.
