Story Highlights
- Star Wars: Jedi Survivor is one of the most enjoyable action-adventure titles in the business right now.
- The game was marred on launch for lackluster technical performance, stutters, bugs, and glitches.
- Despite coming out more than a year ago, Jedi: Survivor still remains in a partially troubled state.
I’m quite fond of high-performance titles, particularly ones that challenge my system and deliver an incredible outcome. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor had the potential to be one such game, but unfortunately, it seems that Electronic Arts (EA) has been neglecting the growing, dedicated fanbase of the Jedi series, and this, along with a noticeable disregard for consumers’ preferences, could have hindered its success.
From the start, it was evident that the PC version of the action-adventure game would struggle with performance, as early reviews suggested. And unfortunately, this prediction proved accurate.
Over time, EA revealed plans for multiple “weekly” updates to enhance the performance of Jedi: Survivor. Although they’ve made significant improvements in certain areas, it’s clear that the game’s performance, particularly with regards to Soulslite (yes, it’s a term), is still far from ideal at this point.
Here’s how.
Jedi: Survivor’s Major Technical Shortcomings
Initially, it’s important to address that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is currently encountering issues with unstable shaders and navigation lags. While these problems might appear minor on a basic level, they could be frustrating for gamers who are keen on maximizing their hardware performance expectations.
Since the release of Jedi: Survivor in April 2023, Electronic Arts has continued to refine and upgrade the game experience. While these improvements are evident, it’s important to note that the game is not yet perfect.
Glance at the latest analysis video of Jedi: Survivor by Digital Foundry, and you’ll soon notice that the game has some distance to cover before it can match the caliber of CDPR’s Cyberpunk 2077 – a title that also didn’t start with a stellar debut.
By the way, let me express my concerns about the assortment of visual glitches scattered throughout Jedi: Survivor. The inconsistent color flashing, unpredictable disabling of RT function, and animation stutters, among other issues, create a rather unpleasant gaming experience. Upon release, the PC port was met with significant criticism, earning a “Mostly Negative” rating on Steam due to its poor performance.

It’s unfortunate that despite Survivor being generally impressive in various aspects, it falls short when it comes to its slightly predictable storyline.
Additionally, I must add that even the PlayStation 5 version of the game isn’t free from flaws. The recent update for Jedi: Survivor seems to have addressed most issues, but unfortunately, it has also brought attention to the image quality problems. At present, EA assures they will look into these matters, though it’s clear that such concerns ought to have been addressed earlier.

Conversely, it should be acknowledged that the Performance Mode of the upgraded PS5 performs quite well. The graphics, in particular, are outstanding, representing a significant improvement compared to their standard PlayStation 5 equivalents.
Let’s Be Clear About The Overall Experience
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve got to be honest – Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is still an amazing game, but it’s got some hiccups that could bother the perfectionist in me. For those of you who are more casual gamers, these performance issues might not even register as problems, but it’s worth mentioning that occasional visual glitches do pop up from time to time with this title.
eXputer reviewed the game, rating it 4/5, with author Huzaifah Durrani remarking,
Star Wars Jedi Survivor is an exceptional follow-up game, leveraging the strong points of its forerunner. However, some of its storytelling decisions may not be entirely successful.
EA Still Needs To Uphold Certain Standards With Its Flagship Entries
EA often entices players with sales, discounts, and similar offers, but as consumers, we need to express our disapproval during such events to make our feelings clear to those in charge. Remarkably, Respawn Entertainment, the creators of the Star Wars Jedi series, have once again followed this pattern with Jedi: Fallen Order (the precursor to Jedi: Survivor), and it’s puzzling how similar the situation appears to be years later.
Starting with Dragon Age: Veilguard, let’s consider this example. The game’s writing seems to hinder my enjoyment of the role-playing genre, suggesting that Electronic Arts may not have heeded the lessons from Mass Effect Andromeda – another western RPG that faced a similar challenge.
