OneRepublic Leaves Interscope After 18 years, Sign New Deal With BMG

OneRepublic has recently agreed to a contract with BMG Records, as announced on Thursday. The popular pop-rock group, led by Ryan Tedder, will now be partnered with BMG for their global recordings following almost 20 years with Universal Music Group’s Interscope label.

On Thursday, it was announced that OneRepublic’s next album, their seventh, will be distributed by BMG. Their first single from this new album, titled “Beautiful Colors,” is scheduled for release on July 25th.

Tedder expressed his enthusiasm about becoming part of the BMG family, stating that they’re eager to continue producing music that their fans will cherish. In a statement, he praised Jon [Loba, President of Frontline Recordings at BMG] and Dan [Gill, EVP, Recorded Music, West Coast] for their outstanding partnership throughout this journey. He is anticipating their future assistance and can’t wait for everyone to listen to their upcoming single ‘Beautiful Colors,’ inspired by the Japanese anime series ‘Kaiju No. 8.’ This single is set to be released later this month.

Since 2007, OneRepublic has been under the roof of Mosley Music Group/Interscope Records, where their debut album “Dreaming Out Loud” was first released. With this label, they produced some of the biggest pop hits, such as the four-time platinum “Apologize” and “Counting Stars,” which went diamond. Their latest album under Interscope, released in 2024 titled “Artificial Paradise“, also contained “I Ain’t Worried,” a song initially created for Top Gun: Maverick and now boasts over 2 billion streams on Spotify.

OneRepublic is among the most influential and lasting bands from the past two decades, boasting a global impact that encompasses numerous chart-topping songs, billions of streams, and an extensive library of music that has shaped eras. As expressed in a statement, Loba noted their talent for adapting, inventing, and engaging audiences worldwide, which matches perfectly with BMG’s artist-centric approach.

Meanwhile, Gill referred to the partnership with OneRepublic as an “exciting new phase” not only for the band, but also for his own team. He stated that this collaboration would significantly boost their capacity to work together at the highest level and produce results worthy of artists like OneRepublic. His team is fully dedicated to realizing OneRepublic’s creative vision and ensuring their upcoming album resonates deeply with fans in a way that has never been achieved before.
