As a lifelong New Yorker with a heart full of nostalgia for my beloved city, I can’t help but be thrilled by the latest collaboration between Only NY and WNYC. Growing up, WNYC was an integral part of our lives, providing us with news, stories, and perspectives that shaped our understanding of the world around us.
Only NY boasts a variety of tribute collections inspired by the diverse visual landscape of New York City. Their latest collaborations include MTA, New York City Marathon, and New York Deli and Grocery. The newest addition to their local partnership series is a special capsule collection created with WNYC to mark the 100th anniversary of New York City’s public radio station.
Working together with an organization that we’ve admired since childhood as New York natives, adds a special touch to our Centennial event, as expressed by Micah Belamarich and Julian Goldstein.
It’s a constant source of joy for us to collaborate with and help share the tales of such culturally vibrant institutions within our city. The graphic history and logos of WNYC, renowned in their field, have contributed significantly to our satisfaction. Here’s to another century of public radio in NYC!
This capsule collection features a variety of co-branded merchandise – including t-shirts and hoodies – that draw inspiration from WNYC’s historic archive of logos and poster designs, which span its 100 years on the air. Phrases such as “Listen and encourage others to listen” and “The voice of the city” are emblazoned on each item, accompanied by imagery reminiscent of WNYC’s time as a television broadcaster with the “Voice of the City” logo and artwork from its 1995 Independence Campaign.
