Sam Altman, the CEO of Open AI and a well-known figure in Silicon Valley due to his company’s groundbreaking ChatGPT product that is leading the way in consumer-focused artificial intelligence, has been alleged by his sister of committing repeated acts of sexual assault when they were both minors.
On Monday, Ann Altman submitted a lawsuit to the U.S. Eastern District Court of Missouri. She claims that her older brother physically abused her at their home in Clayton, Missouri, for nine years, from approximately 1997 to 2006. The alleged abuse started when she was three years old and her brother was twelve. In the lawsuit, she asserts that the abuse encompassed forced sexual acts, molestation, sodomy, and battery.
In a post on his previous Twitter account on Wednesday, Sam Altman disputes all the accusations made against him and reveals that his sister, Ann Altman, has ongoing mental health issues and has declined traditional treatment. The statement, which is said to be authored by Altman, his mother, and his two brothers, alleges that despite receiving a monthly allowance from their father’s estate, having her bills and rent covered, and being offered a house through a trust, Ann Altman persistently seeks financial support from the family.
My sister has filed a lawsuit against me. Here is a statement from my mom, brothers, and me:

Every single word in these accusations is completely false, I assure you,” I’d say, my heart heavy with emotion. “This ordeal is tearing our family apart, causing unbearable suffering. It’s heart-rending when she rejects traditional care and lashes out at those of us who are earnestly trying to support her.
On Wednesday, a call made to Ann Altman’s lawyer, Ryan Mahoney, based in Illinois, wasn’t answered right away. Mahoney clarified to the Wall Street Journal that there’s no indication that Altman’s mental state has played a role in the allegations she’s made.
As an ardent supporter recounting this tale, I’m sharing that the legal action calls for a jury trial and seeks compensation exceeding $75,000. The financial strain, as detailed in the lawsuit, stems from the plaintiff’s necessary medical and psychological care due to sustained injuries. This has not only impacted her earnings but also her benefits.
In a later post on X, Sam Altman mentioned that Mahoney’s lawyer wrote to him stating that, under Missouri law, they could pursue punitive damages in our case. He also indicated that he expected the trial, concerning childhood sexual abuse over many years of rape and incest, to last for about two years. During this trial, it was suggested that they would present the jury with Sam Altman’s projected net worth, estimated to be approximately $1 billion at that time.
