As he recently spoke about the upcoming 2025 movie, the British actor reminisced about the time he hesitated to take on the role of Will Turner. Moreover, he also shared his thoughts on potentially reprising his iconic character.
Orlando Bloom Almost Turned Down Pirates Of The Caribbean For Being A ‘Crazy’ Idea
Previously this year, Bloom expressed having great admiration for his experience in the “Pirates” films. The 48-year-old actor admitted, during promotions for his latest movie “Deep Cover,” that initially he required persuasion to embrace the idea behind the film franchise. Reflecting on this to L’Officiel, he shared:
My representative mentioned that Disney is considering creating a film inspired by a theme park attraction, to which I responded something along the lines of, “That sounds unbelievable!” or “I find that hard to believe!
Prior to 2003, when Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl was released, only a handful of movies based on theme park rides had been made, with limited success. This left Orlando Bloom uncertain about its potential. However, while working alongside Geoffrey Rush (Captain Hector Barbosa from the Pirates series) on the film Ned Kelly, Rush convinced Bloom to accept the role. Now, Bloom jokingly reflects on this decision.

Discussing the future of “Pirates of the Caribbean,” there has been much uncertainty since the release of the fifth film in 2017. Over time, numerous rumors have circulated regarding the franchise’s development. Some reports hint at both a reboot and a continuation featuring Johnny Depp. Here’s what Orlando Bloom had to say about potentially reprising his role as Turner on ITV’s “This Morning” (as reported by Wales Online):
At this point, I’m unsure as I don’t have all the details, but I can confirm that there’s room for something to happen. They seem to be brainstorming the specifics, and I’d love to reunite the band again, it would be fantastic! However, everyone has their own thoughts, so we’ll have to wait and see what materializes in the end.
