Preliminary assessments suggested that the Oscars 2025 broadcast received slightly fewer viewers compared to the previous year, 2024. However, after accounting for viewings on computers, tablets, and smartphones – which are typically included in subsequent Nielsen reports according to their regular policy – it appears that the broadcast actually saw a 1% increase in viewership, amassing a total audience of approximately 19.69 million viewers.

A unique collaboration between The Hollywood Reporter and data company Launchmetrics introduces the Red Carpet Power Rankings. These rankings aim to numerically assess the effect of brands showcased on red carpets during award seasons, using Launchmetrics’ exclusive Media Impact Value (MIV) system. This algorithm, owned by Launchmetrics, evaluates and ranks both the brands and celebrities across five categories: fashion, watches, jewelry and accessories, plus the top five women and men at each event. The MIV algorithm ascribes a financial value to every post, social media interaction, and editorial article to gauge a brand’s impact and audience engagement. Recognized as a modern method for brand measurement across the industry, it provides valuable insights into brand performance.
