Yippee! Your beloved group is returning with even more thrilling escapades! The popular Netflix show, “Outer Banks,” is gearing up for its fourth season this autumn, and the anticipation couldn’t be higher. Since the debut of the first season in early 2020, the fanbase of “Outer Banks” has been steadily expanding and has earned a spot among the best Netflix series.
The TV series featuring Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Rudy Pankow, Madison Bailey, Drew Starkey, and Austin North delivers a rich tapestry, encompassing life lessons on friendships and courage, savoring simple joys, and cherishing moments with loved ones. This makes Outer Banks an exceptional choice for your Netflix viewing, as it stirs genuine interest in the lives of John B, Kiara, Sarah, Pope, and JJ. However, there’s a character whose impending fate could undergo a significant shift.
Who Is Topper in Outer Banks?
The principal figures in the series “Outer Banks” are distinctly individual, with each possessing a captivating tale to share. One of these main characters is Topper Thorton, who has been present since the initial season and assumes the position of secondary adversary within the show’s narrative. Much like the other residents of “Outer Banks”, Topper resides on Kildare Island, which is divided into two regions: Figure 8 and the Cut.
While Figure 8 is where the rich and affluent reside, known colloquially as the Kooks, it has been Topper’s privileged abode. He fiercely guards its boundaries against the lower-income residents, often referred to as the Pogues. Born into a life of luxury, Topper considers his high social standing as an inherited birthright, living among the wealthy elite. Given his family’s substantial wealth and his penchant for flaunting his possessions, such as an expensive boat and his parents’ extravagant belongings, Topper is esteemed as the young ruler among the Kooks.
In contrast to the troubled life of Rafe Cameron, who despite being part of the wealthiest family on Kildare Island, was marred by his anger issues, drug problems, and a life filled with deceit, Topper has consistently played the role of an ideal son, student, and citizen. He exudes perfection in all that he does, including his relationships. In fact, when it comes to love, he has been determined to maintain the perfect relationship and showcase it to society.
Rafe Cameron found his ideal match in his sister Sarah, who is affectionately known as the “Kook Princess.” Like Topper, she enjoys a lavish lifestyle and together they project an image of being the most desirable couple on Kildare Island. If it weren’t for John B, their carefully crafted facade might have seemed perfect to everyone else.
Topper’s Unrequited Love in Outer Banks
In the first season of Outer Banks, it’s evident that Sarah and Topper’s romance is showing signs of strain. Despite Topper’s persistent displays of affection and attempts to maintain an image of carefree love, Sarah seemed disconnected. Her sister’s suggestion that Sarah had a history of infidelity in relationships may have sown doubt in Topper’s mind, but even before this, Sarah was reluctant about becoming intimate with him. Sadly, his rebuke for her wish to wait only served to drive her away further.
John B. is a Pogue through and through. To Topper, that’s a big no-no, but Sarah is slowly but surely intrigued by the adventurous rebel who offers a chance to take her out of her bubble. His unfiltered goofiness, her desire to escape the restrictions of her family’s high status, and their back-and-forth banter, which, in the beginning, is certainly also marked by some serious dislike for each other, offering a fruitful ground for an unexpected connection. Before, Sarah’s tendency to cheat on her boyfriends was simply based on rumors. However, Sarah did go down that road with John B., and, of course, Topper found out.
The betrayal he felt was real, and so was the heartbreak, but despite the initial bad blood between John B. and Topper, he still ended up helping them escape a dangerous situation. It wasn’t the only situation in which Topper helped Sarah and the Pogues, but he certainly didn’t do it out of empathy for John B. and his crew. He only continued to step up to prove to Sarah that he was better. Well, that quickly backfired.
Topper’s New Love Interest in Outer Banks Season 4
Topper, despite being irritating and unfair at times, has experienced his own share of heartache in his relationship with Sarah. Although their relationship ended bitterly, he was always quick to help her and constantly worried about her well-being. It’s no surprise that he’s been trying to win her back for a long time, going as far as trying to turn her against John B. and the Pogues, and persuading her that life in Figure 8 is superior. Sarah, while grateful for his assistance, often only sought him out when she needed a favor. Despite a temporary reunion between Sarah and Topper, it’s clear that Sarah and John B. are destined to be together. So, what does this mean for Topper?
In Season 4 of “Outer Banks”, the familiar faces will be back, joined by fresh characters who are set to embark on the thrilling journey in the Outer Banks. One of these newcomers is Mia Challis, an actress known for her roles in various short films and series such as “Clickbait” and the 2024 psychological thriller “The Disinvited”. In “Outer Banks”, Challis will portray Ruthie, a character who exudes a wild child energy and occasionally shows a hint of toxic behavior. Additionally, Ruthie is identified as a Kook, opening up opportunities to mingle with wealthy families like Topper’s.
The much-anticipated fourth season of Outer Banks on Netflix is set to arrive on October 10, providing answers to the lingering questions about Topper and his new romantic interest.
