Starz is keeping its Outlander franchise alive for another season.
The freshly autonomous television and streaming channel has greenlit a second installment of “Outlander: Blood of My Blood“, which is a prequel to their established drama. This renewal for the series, produced by Sony Pictures TV, was made approximately six weeks prior to the Aug. 8 debut of “Blood of My Blood”; production on season two started this Monday.
Titled “Blood of My Blood“, this series, commissioned alongside the final season of Outlander in early 2023, serves as a prequel, unfolding events in both fictional timelines. In 18th century Scotland, characters Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) will portray Jamie Fraser’s parents. On the other hand, in Britain during World War I, Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) are set to be Claire Randall/Fraser’s parents.
Matthew B. Roberts, our showrunner and executive producer, expressed his excitement in a statement about Outlander: Blood of my Blood. The level of dedication and skill the cast and crew have put into it has been truly remarkable. We can’t wait to carry on with more heart-stirring love tales in season two. Just as viewers became captivated by Jamie and Claire, we anticipate that new couples in this upcoming summer will equally capture hearts.
Kathryn Busby, Starz programming chief, stated, “The captivating world of ‘Outlander’ has enthralled viewers with its epic storytelling and memorable characters. In ‘Blood of my Blood’, we’ve broadened the universe in a manner that respects the original while venturing into uncharted territories. Both long-standing fans and newcomers will be captivated by the passionate love stories at the core of this new chapter, and we are proud to continue expanding on the franchise’s legacy, working alongside Matt and our longtime collaborators at Sony who have been instrumental in making ‘Outlander’ the global success it is.
As a dedicated fan, I’d like to highlight that “Blood of My Blood” features the talented Tony Curran, Rory Alexander, Séamus McLean Ross, Sam Retford, and Conor MacNeill. In addition, Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and Jim Kohlberg serve as executive producers for this captivating series.
Regarding the eighth and concluding season of “Outlander,” adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s book series, Starz hasn’t disclosed when it will air as of now.
