As a seasoned gamer with hundreds of hours clocked into Overwatch, I’ve had the pleasure of trying out Brigitte, the hybrid support and tank hero. While she might not be the best in terms of raw healing output compared to Mercy or Ana, she offers a unique and exciting playstyle that feels fresh on the battlefield.
I’ve discovered that Brigitte isn’t the top-tier support hero in Overwatch 2, but there’s something special about her that makes me appreciate her unique blend of tanking and healing capabilities. Let me walk you through her abilities and some helpful tips for making the most of her on the battlefield.
Abilities explained
Name | Type | Effect |
Rocket Flail | Primary Fire | Brigitte’s melee weapon has an extended range, enabling her to strike multiple enemies with a single swing |
Inspire | Hero Passive | Whenever Brigitte causes damage to a foe, nearby allies will be healed |
Repair Pack | Ability | For a short period of time, this will heal an ally a certain amount. This can be stacked three times, but they have to be recharged |
Whip Shot | Ability | The flail is launched forward and when you hit an enemy, they’ll be knocked back |
Barrier Shield | Ability | Whip up a shield that covers your width |
Shield Bash | Ability | She can stun and knock back an opponent with her shield |
Rally | Ultimate | Everyone will move faster and gain extra health in an area of effect |
Role: Support | Role Passive | Begin regenerating health more quickly |
Tips for playing Brigitte
Brigitte, unlike healers such as Mercy and Ana, excels when playing aggressively.
As someone who’s spent countless hours immersed in the world of Overwatch, I can tell you from my gaming experience that when Brigitte sends out a repair pack, the healing isn’t an instant fix. It takes a moment for the pack to gather up and reach its intended target. This is something I’ve observed firsthand during intense team fights, where every second counts.
She adds an enormous capacity for aggression to the mix. With her shield, she’s able to ward off quick assaults such as D.Va’s Self Destruct. Furthermore, she can employ her shield to shove opponents back and disrupt their attacks.
In such a scenario, the bash ability could prove crucial when facing Genji’s well-timed ultimate. A brief stun from the bash could potentially tip the scales in your favor and secure a victory.
Along with using a shield to protect yourself, adding to the puzzlement for your foe is the “Whip Shot.” This move boasts an extended reach, allowing you to either thrust opponents back from a nearby position or keep a safe distance from far away. The impact will send them reeling back, potentially disrupting their rhythm if they’re on a winning streak.
The Whip Shot is effective against escaping foes with low health, such as when Tracer tries to retreat.
Having your entire team supporting you, utilizing the rocket flail independently is an effective method for reviving teammates. Each attack on the opponent results in HP restoration for your comrades. With Kiriko’s ultimate enhancing this ability, healing amongst your allies will be significantly accelerated.
