Overwatch 2 Juno weapons, abilities, ultimate & how to play

As a seasoned gamer with hundreds of hours clocked in Overwatch and its sequel, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the addition of a new Support hero to the roster: Juno. With her rapid-fire weapons that heal teammates and damage enemies, she brings an exciting new dynamic to the table.

As a long-time fan of Overwatch, I’m thrilled to share my excitement about the latest addition to the game’s roster: Juno, the 11th Support hero. Having played the game for years, I’ve grown accustomed to the unique abilities and playstyles of each character. But Juno brings something truly special to the table.

Before being called ‘Space Ranger’, Juno now joins the team armed with swift weapons that have dual functions: reviving allies and harming adversaries. Furthermore, her capacity to boost teammates’ speed and possessing remarkable agility make her an formidable presence on the battlefield.

Having tried out Juno for a few games during the early access phase of Overwatch 2 in July, I’d like to share some tips on maximizing your experience with this new hero.

Weapon

The Mediblaster, which is Juno’s primary weapon, resembles a one-handheld submachine gun. This weapon is capable of burst firing and boasts bullets with the unique ability to both restore health to teammates and inflict damage upon enemies – much like Ana’s signature sniper rifle.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that while Juno is great at dishing out damage in close quarters, she just can’t take on enemies alone in a 1vs1 situation. It’s understandable since she’s designed as a Support character. However, she’s more than capable of contributing when it comes to dealing the finishing blows against weaker enemies.

The Mediblaster is effective even if your aim isn’t perfect. When you shoot into a group, there’s a good chance you’ll hit an ally or an enemy, which is advantageous because both types receive healing or damage from the bullets.

Abilities

  • Pulsar Torpedoes
    • Lock on and fire homing projectiles. Heals allies over time and damages enemies.
  • Glide Boost
    • Glide horizontally with increased movement speed
  • Hyper Ring
    • Deploy a ring that increases the movement speed of allies that pass through it

Two of Juno’s three capabilities revolve around mobility, making her quick and elusive during battles, providing she uses them effectively.

With Glide Boost activated, you can swiftly travel in any desired direction while clinging to vertical surfaces. You even have the flexibility to ascend or descend by jumping or crouching respectively. Effectively, it’s as if you’re given a temporary jetpack for added mobility.

Placing the Hyper Ring on the ground will enhance your and your team’s swiftness. Teammates who walk over it will receive a brief burst of speed, much like Lucio’s ability. Utilize this advantageously during engagements or major offensives.

As a huge fan of Juno, I’d describe her Pulsar Torpedoes like this: In the heat of a team fight when everyone is clustered together, these torpedoes become my most valuable asset. They may take some time to zero in on targets, but trust me, the wait is worth it. Once fired, they unleash a wave of healing and damage orbs in the desired direction. The key is to use them discreetly amidst the chaos of the battlefield. If you manage to execute this skill unnoticed during massive team fights, it has the power to significantly shift the balance of power.

Passives

  • Martian Overboots
    • While airborne, double jump or hold jump to hover
  • Role: Support
    • Begin regenerating health more quickly

Juno’s passive abilities are simple and geared towards enhancing her agility. The Martian Boots work optimally when activating the Glide Boost feature, enabling you to soar through the air for a brief duration.

Juno, with her compact size and quick movements, can be quite elusive and challenging to defeat.

Ultimate

Orbital Ray represents Juno’s strongest skill; it’s essential for engaging in intense team battles.

When summoned, a powerful beam of healing light shines down from above, restoring health to adversaries while boosting their attack power.

The most appealing aspect is its gradual advancement, drawing your teammates along for the gain of its advantages. In my limited experience playing as Juno, this skill successfully regained the objective for us each time I employed it, making it an invaluable resource when our team was under pressure.

From my personal experience, I’ve found that taking a defensive stance when making objective points can be slightly less effective for me. In these situations, I don’t feel the need to aggressively advance my position as much as I would in more subjective debates. However, based on my encounters with skilled communicators, I’ve also come to appreciate that this skill is incredibly potent when used correctly. It allows individuals to persuasively present their viewpoint while maintaining a calm and composed demeanor, making it an invaluable tool for effective dialogue and understanding different perspectives.
