From the early stages of the game, players have speculated that Overwatch might eventually become mobile-friendly. Although it’s already accessible on the Nintendo Switch, it’s plausible that a version tailored for smartphones could be developed in the future.
It’s been revealed that Blizzard is collaborating with another game developer, aiming to create a mobile adaptation of their hero-shooter game.
Yes, Overwatch 3 Is Real
According to reports from the VGC, Blizzard is joining forces with Nexon (known for games like The Finals and Blue Archive) to create a mobile adaptation of Overwatch, along with a fresh StarCraft title.
Since the final quarter of the previous year, Blizzard has been making offers to significant South Korean gaming corporations. The proposal includes the right to develop content based on the ‘Starcraft’ franchise and the mobile service rights for both Korea and Japan for the game ‘Overwatch Mobile’, offered as a combined package.
It’s noteworthy that the developers internally refer to Overwatch Mobile as Overwatch 3, implying a potential connection with the existing game. The ongoing development of the original game is likely to continue even while work is being done on the mobile version, known as OW Mobile.
Can Overwatch Work on Mobile?

Certainly, Overwatch has garnered significant recognition as a hero-shooter game. It’s conceivable that it may venture into the mobile realm with some modifications. Given that there are numerous first-person shooter (FPS) games that perform well on mobile devices, all that’s needed is to infuse a touch of Overwatch’s unique style and appeal into a mobile game. Under such circumstances, Nexon could potentially launch a successful shooter title.
Since Marvel Rivals is limited to next-generation consoles and computers, Overwatch maintains an advantage due to its availability on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. If they were to introduce a mobile version of the game, it could lead to an increase in their player base.
What about the StarCraft Game?
Despite no recent announcements regarding the StarCraft game, Jason Schreier, an industry insider, hinted months ago about a potential StarCraft shooter being developed at Blizzard. Given StarCraft’s prominence among their brands, it seems plausible that they might grant a developer working on Overwatch 3 the license for both games, given the potential synergy between them.
Currently, neither Overwatch 3 nor Overwatch Mobile has been formally unveiled. However, Overwatch 2 is available to play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4|5, and PC.
