Owen Wilson is back in the Focker fold.
The performer, who is currently shining in Apple TV+’s critically acclaimed show “Stick,” will be working alongside Ben Stiller and Robert DeNiro on Universal’s new addition to its popular “Meet the Parents” comedy film franchise.
Teri Polo, who previously appeared in the original trilogy of films launched in the 2000s, is set to rejoin the cast list. Notably, Ariana Grande, an Academy Award-nominated music sensation, will be a new addition to the project for this upcoming feature film.
John Hamburg, who previously collaborated on all three movies, is responsible for penning the script for the upcoming project and will also take up directing duties. Universal has scheduled the movie’s release on November 25, 2026. Paramount Pictures will join forces with Universal in producing and distributing the film globally.
The first film, which came out in 2000, centered around a character named Greg Focker, portrayed by Stiller, who sought the approval and blessing of his girlfriend’s tough father. As the series progressed, it evolved into a family saga, introducing more characters such as Dustin Hoffman and Barbara Streisand in 2004’s “Meet the Fockers”, and expanding to include children in 2010’s “Little Fockers”.
In the initial film, Wilson showcased captivating moments as the former fiancé of Polo’s character. He was portrayed as a wealthy individual, cherished by the parents and versatile, with skills in carpentry among others. His character made appearances in both sequels too. It has been announced that Wilson will be reprising his role once more.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve got some exciting news about the upcoming installment of my favorite game series. Although most of the storyline is still under wraps, The Hollywood Reporter has given us a sneak peek into one plot point: it appears that the son of Stiller and Polo’s characters is getting hitched to a woman who seems like she could give him a run for his money. Intriguingly, Grande will be portraying the bride-to-be in this tale of unexpected love.
Jane Rosenthal and De Niro, under their Tribeca Productions, will be the producers. On the other hand, Roach will produce through his Delirious Media. Stiller and John Lesher will produce using their Red Hour Films label. Lastly, Hamburg will produce via Particular Pictures.
Since the movie “Haunted Mansion” released in 2023, Wilson hasn’t made an appearance on the big screen. That film had a tough time at the box office. However, that same year, he reprised his character as the Time Variance Authority bureaucrat Mobius in season 2 of the Disney+ series “Loki”.
He is repped by UTA and Hirsch Wallerstein.
