Over time, the movie Padmaavat, featuring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Shahid Kapoor, has developed a dedicated following, reaching cult status. Originally released in 2018, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial masterpiece is set to return to the big screen on January 24, 2025, almost seven years after its initial release.
On January 22nd, Viacom 18 Studios and Bhansali Productions posted a collaborative update on their Instagram account, showcasing the poster for the epic period drama “Padmaavat.” The poster showcased notable images of actors Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Shahid Kapoor from the film. The caption read, “Relive the epic story on the big screen once more! #Padmaavat returns to cinemas on January 24th,” with the entire team being tagged as well.

The unexpected news left movie enthusiasts buzzing, as they flooded the comments section discussing the recent update. One fan excitedly proposed, “Could you arrange a reunion for the entire cast and crew? Such photos would only increase anticipation further!”, while another inquired, “Will it be the unedited version? Without any censorship on the ‘Ghoomar’ scene?
Besides this, another enthusiastic spectator shouted, “At last!” while another fanatic admirer showed excitement by saying, “Whew… Patiently waiting.” Numerous fans voiced their anticipation for the re-release of films such as Bajirao Mastani, Devdas, Black, and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
In my eyes, one of the most captivating movies I hold dear is “Padmaavat,” which narrates the tale of Queen Padmavati, a regal figure hailing from the Kingdom of Chittor. This historical drama vividly portrays the grand epic as Alauddin Khilji, a ruthless and skeptical ruler, sought to conquer India’s most formidable kingdom, Chittor, and capture its queen. In an attempt to thwart him and safeguard their dignity, Rajput women chose to perform Jauhar – a self-immolation ceremony – alongside Queen Padmavati, thus thwarting Alauddin’s ambitions and leaving him enraged.
This past month, the film “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani,” starring Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor, was also premiered in cinemas.
Based on TopMob’s analysis of box office earnings, financed by Dharma Productions, the film made an impressive Rs 1.75 crore net during its re-release, which was second only to Tumbbad in terms of opening for a re-released movie. In its second week, it drew a substantial crowd, and ultimately earned another Rs 5.45 crore.
