To me, John Williams stands out not just as the top contemporary film composer in today’s Hollywood, but as my all-time favorite. Watching the 2024 movie, “Music by John Williams,” which showcases the renowned composer who has crafted timeless scores for films like “Jaws,” “Star Wars,” and “Jurassic Park,” I found myself beaming and shedding tears as I reminisced about the profound impact his music has had on me throughout my life. However, it was during the segment of the Disney+ original documentary focusing on “Schindler’s List” that truly touched my heart.
In the later part of the 20th century, Charles Bronson, renowned for his roles in action flicks, westerns, and war movies, was often associated with being tough both on and off the set. Among his many television and film appearances were several spaghetti Westerns, such as “Red Sun.” Directed by Terrence Young, who is famous for helming James Bond films like “Dr. No,” “From Russia with Love,” and “Thunderball,” “Red Sun” was released in 1972. Besides Bronson, it featured Ursula Andress (from “Dr. No”), Alain Delon, Toshirō Mifune, and other notable stars. Based on a true story from the American frontier, “Red Sun” also starred these talented actors.
I’m really looking forward to the upcoming film, Nosferatu, in 2024. As a fan of horror films, I can say that its remake of the 1922 unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula has left a significant mark. Just like me, another renowned horror director, Fede Álvarez (who recently impressed everyone with Alien: Romulus), has expressed his admiration for Nosferatu, going so far as to call it his “favorite horror movie of the year.
Regardless of not universally impressing film critics throughout its three movies, Tom Hardy’s Venom franchise has been a significant money-maker for Sony, with the third film keeping its top spot on the box office for three weeks post-release. A key factor behind its enduring popularity lies in the exhilarating CGI-enhanced action scenes, and another significant attraction is the amusingly complex bond between Hardy’s Eddie Brock and his symbiote, which leads to some downright zany episodes.
