Casa Bonita Mi Amor Review | The South Park Creators’ Delicious Documentary
Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the minds behind South Park, find themselves in deep financial trouble following their acquisition of Casa Bonita, a cherished restaurant from their childhood days. The film Casa Bonita Mi Amor narrates their rollercoaster journey – filled with humor, exasperating challenges, and, eventually, success – after spending an enormous amount of money. Opened in 1974 in Lakewood, Colorado, Casa Bonita is a 50,000 square foot restaurant modeled on a Disneyland village. It quickly gained popularity and became a favorite institution before deteriorating due to mismanagement and eventually closing during the pandemic. Filmmaker Arthur Bradford chronicles Parker and Stone’s attempts to revive Casa Bonita. Initially, it seems like an easy renovation project; however, things soon take a turn for the worse as their ambitions crash into the cold, hard wall of reality.
