As a die-hard skateboarding enthusiast who has braved countless winters on the icy streets of London, I can’t help but feel a thrill of excitement at the prospect of Palace Skateboards venturing into the snowy realm with their latest collaboration with Oakley. The fusion of these two iconic brands is like a dream come true for me, as it combines my love for skate culture with the performance gear I need to conquer the slopes in style.
For the seventh time in winter, Palace Skateboards is shifting focus from city streets to snowy landscapes, introducing an exclusive range of apparel and accessories designed specifically for snowboarding. In a joint effort with Oakley, known for its adventurous eyewear, Palace offers a diverse collection of cold-weather clothing that combines functionality with style. This gear takes inspiration from Oakley’s 1990s archives and is suitable for wearers who want to transition seamlessly from the slopes to après-ski activities.
In this collection, the dominant color scheme is influenced by clouds from the day and night skies, with prints that mimic the appearance of a bright daytime sky and a dark nighttime sky. These prints are featured prominently on the duo’s stylish line of technical puffa jackets, as well as atop the breathable mesh venting on their coordinating soft-padded snow pants.
Later on, you’ll find a selection of Sherpa fleece and lycra-lined jackets with zippers, along with high-tech jerseys made exclusively from moisture-wicking materials for superior temperature control. Additionally, some collaborative Tri-ferg t-shirts complete the clothing assortment.
As an additional feature, this pair contributes to the assortment with a joint footwear creation: the Oakley Edge Flex sneaker, inspired by sports, boasts a durable water-repellent construction, accentuated by thick rubber soles and a ballistic upper material.
Additionally joining the fray is renowned winter sports brand K2 Snowboarding. They’ve teamed up for a collaborative snowboard, along with additional gear such as goggles, a matching MOD 1 Helmet, hats, beanies, gloves, backpacks, balaclavas, and an updated version of Oakley’s “Clifden” sunglasses.
