Year after year, Alejandro Gómez Palomo persistently tests the boundaries of men’s fashion, innovating on conventional shapes and aesthetic norms. For Spring/Summer 2025, he chose to express this at Uptown Manhattan’s Fourth Universalist Society Church. Titled “All of Heaven’s Parties,” Palomo Spain invites us to ponder more about the balance between sexuality and reason, showcasing the stunning results when we discard our outdated perceptions and old-fashioned beliefs.
Palomo questions why emotions deeply rooted in our humanity, such as lust, desire, and attraction, are often associated with the threat of eternal damnation. He wonders if these feelings, which seem to be an integral part of our nature, should be suppressed in the quest for salvation. He ponders how something so inherently human could be considered sinful.
He shared a bit more on the sentiment with TopMob, explaining how he brought this ethos to life through “embellishment on top of embellishment – Beading, fringes, sequins on sequins on sequins. Feathers on beading on sequins. All of it.”
Drawing inspiration from Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki and Helmut Newton, Palomo blends the conventionally elegant with the provocative and sensual, seamlessly integrating bold silhouettes such as sequined trousers, oversized embellishments, mini-shorts, and even flamboyant ostrich feathered wigs, with traditional glamour and Swarovski crystals.
The designs in his collection draw significantly from his Spanish roots as well. He utilizes traditional skills such as intricate silk fringing and delicate embroidery, which are found in numerous pieces of clothing.
