Pankaj Tripathi’s wife Mridula reveals mother-in-law hasn’t accepted her even after 19 years of marriage for THIS reason; ‘She’s still upset…’

As a dedicated follower of their journey, I can’t help but admire the resilience and determination of Pankaj Tripathi and his wife, Mridula. Their love story, riddled with societal pressures and familial disputes, is a testament to the power of true love.

In 2004, Pankaj Tripathi tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend, Mridula, following twelve years of courtship. Their marriage has been a source of joy for them both. Yet, in a recent conversation, Mridula disclosed that convincing their families to approve their love match was no easy feat. Moreover, she pointed out that, even after 19 years, her mother-in-law continues to harbor resentment towards their union due to the social implications; as a woman from Mridula’s family became part of Pankaj’s lineage, it affected the perceived standing between their families, often referred to as ‘Kul’.

In an open discussion on the Conversations with Atul YouTube channel, a teacher named Mridula divulged fascinating details about her long-term marriage to Pankaj Tripathi. She reminisced about their first encounter at a pre-wedding event of their siblings’ families, where they felt an instant bond. Despite being in different grades – she was in 9th and he was in 11th – they maintained a secret relationship for twelve years before finally making it official, all while keeping their families unaware.

At the time in question, Mridula pointed out that a love marriage was a significant concern within their family, as their social standing shifted dramatically following the marriages of their relatives. This shift in status presented challenges for them when seeking a potential partner.

She stated, “It remains inappropriate. Our custom disallows a woman to wed into a family of lesser standing if another woman has previously married into a family of higher standing. Since my sister-in-law had married above her rank within our family, which is regarded as higher status, I cannot marry into their family, considered of lower status.

Additionally, the intricate dynamics and deciding on how to interact with her brother’s wife raised worries within their households. At one juncture, it seemed she would marry another man, but that arrangement collapsed when they demanded a bride price. In time, she chose to consult her father about Pankaj, who surprisingly showed approval. Yet, he advised her to maintain the secret of this matter from other relatives.

In due course, the actor from Mirzapur received a message from his prospective father-in-law, expressing his desire to seek approval for marriage. This development caused quite a stir among extended family members. Upon learning this, Mridula’s mother and sister were displeased by the news. It was revealed that Mridula’s mother-in-law had not yet embraced her as one of their own.

She expressed, “To this day, my mother-in-law has not fully welcomed me due to the matters I discussed before. She’s still harboring some resentment over our intermingling. However, there seems little we can do about it at this point.” Yet, their family now enjoys a close and affectionate relationship.

Pankaj Tripathi initially entered the entertainment industry via advertisements and minor roles in well-known films. His filmography includes hits like Dabangg 2, Gangs of Wasseypur (Parts 1 and 2), Masaan, Luka Chuppi, Stree, Mimi, among others.
