Panned Jason Statham Action Sequel Mechanic: Resurrection is Free to Stream

As a movie buff with over three decades of cinematic experiences under my belt, I must say that the prospect of watching Jason Statham back in action as Arthur Bishop in “Mechanic: Resurrection” is nothing short of exhilarating! The man has a knack for delivering high-octane action sequences and brutal fight scenes that leave audiences on the edge of their seats.

Over the weekend, you have a chance to stream Jason Statham’s latest sequel for free, on one of the less popular streaming platforms. Known for his action movie roles, Jason Statham, who is also an accomplished martial artist, showcases his unique abilities once more as Arthur Bishop in 2016’s “Mechanic: Resurrection”.

Although the sequel to the Mechanic didn’t garner as much praise as its 2011 original, Resurrection offers plenty of exhilarating action scenes, intense fight sequences, and creative deaths (the high-rise swimming pool scene being a standout). You can now enjoy all this action without spending a dime on Freevee, a platform that lets you stream movies and TV shows for free, with the occasional ad.

Originally, “The Mechanic,” a remake of the 1972 film featuring Charles Bronson, has been gaining popularity on Netflix lately, with many action movie enthusiasts and fans of Jason Statham eager to follow the ongoing adventures of Bishop. Directed by Dennis Gansel and written by Philip Shelby and Tony Mosher, “Mechanic: Resurrection” also stars Tommy Lee Jones, Jessica Alba, and Michelle Yeoh in addition to The Stath. For more information about “Mechanic: Resurrection,” you can read the official synopsis provided below.

In the heart of Brazil, renowned hitman Arthur Bishop, played by Jason Statham, is drawn back into the dangerous world he thought he had left behind when an old foe, Sam Hazeldine, abducts the woman he cherishes, Jessica Alba. To rescue her, Bishop embarks on a deadly mission to eliminate three high-profile targets: an African warlord, a human trafficker (Toby Eddington), and an arms dealer (Tommy Lee Jones). As he manipulates their demises to appear as accidents, things don’t always go according to plan, forcing Bishop to outsmart the ones who compelled him to come out of retirement.

Will We Ever See Mechanic 3? Who Knows, but The Stath Has Plenty on the Horizon

The sequel to “Mechanic: Resurrection” garnered mainly unfavorable reviews from critics, earning a score of 31% on Rotten Tomatoes. In contrast, the original film received a rating of 53%. Despite this, the movie proved to be a financial triumph, raking in $125 million globally against an investment of $40 million. This is significantly more than its precursor’s earnings of $76.3 million.

At present, there’s no news if Jason Statham will be back for The Mechanic 3, but given his busy schedule, it seems unlikely. One of his upcoming projects is the quirky movie titled The Beekeeper, which has been gaining a bit of a cult status due to its absurd plot revolving around a former black ops agent who becomes a beekeeper and seeks vengeance after his friend gets swindled. Interestingly, the covert group he once worked for is named The Beekeepers as well.

As we anticipate more updates on the potential sequel called “Beekeeper 2“, Jason Statham will team up once again with his co-star Sylvester Stallone. The action thriller “Levon’s Trade” is written by Stallone and is set to bring the duo together. Directed by David Ayer, this film finds Statham portraying an ex-black ops agent who re-enters his dangerous line of work when a young girl mysteriously disappears. “Levon’s Trade” is slated for release in the United States on January 17, 2025.
