Paramount Global wants to take Las Vegas visitors to the Danger Zone.
The media firm is collaborating with Advent Allen Entertainment to develop and debut an entirely engaging event inspired by their ‘Top Gun’ series, starring Tom Cruise.
The upcoming adventure will be constructed on an unbuilt location at The Strat Hotel along the Las Vegas Strip. For the moment, specifics are being kept confidential; however, the companies assure a blend of thrilling rides and captivating storytelling, incorporating cutting-edge technology and, needless to say, jet simulators.
The businesses aim to replicate the ambiance of the Hard Deck bar seen in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, offering live piano performances that allow guests to embrace their inner Miles Teller by singing along to the famous tune “Great Balls of Fire”.
The popularity of Top Gun has been revived following the success of Top Gun: Maverick in 2022, leading Paramount to believe that its high-octane spirit could make for a thrilling experiential business. Although the first Top Gun Las Vegas (tentative title) is scheduled to debut in 2028, they are actively scouting potential expansion sites not only within the U.S., but also internationally.
As a passionate fan, I’ve noticed a surge in the entertainment industry focusing on immersive experiences. While giants like Disney and Universal keep investing billions into their sprawling global theme parks (Universal’s latest addition, Epic Universe, just opened this week), it’s not just the big guys playing the game. Smaller, more specialized ventures are also popping up. For instance, Netflix is gearing up to launch its first two Netflix Houses in Pennsylvania and Texas by year-end, and Universal isn’t far behind, planning a horror-themed attraction for Las Vegas later this year, and a smaller kids theme park in Texas for next year. It’s an exciting time to be a fan!
Paramount appears satisfied with its approach of granting licenses for immersive experiences, such as an indoor theme park in New Jersey themed around Nickelodeon, a partnership to introduce SpongeBob at Universal’s Texas park, and more recently, Top Gun.
This groundbreaking project signifies a significant step forward for Top Gun, adding another layer to Paramount’s collection of immersive entertainment offerings,” commented Pam Kaufman, head of international markets, global consumer products, and experiences at Paramount. “Paramount is dedicated to offering genuine, awe-inspiring experiences to fans, and Mark Advent and Bill Allen are the ideal duo to turn this destination into a success.
Mark Advent, co-founder of Advent Allen Entertainment and creator of Las Vegas’ New York New York Hotel & Casino, stated that the Top Gun movies are some of the most intense emotional narratives of our era. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Paramount to breathe life into this classic, high-octane saga — offering encounters that embody camaraderie, excellence, the rush of speed, and the excitement of flight,” he said. “We are going all out in our efforts and eagerly anticipate elevating Top Gun to greater heights on the Strip and beyond!
