As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of camaraderie with Michael Engleman. His career trajectory mirrors that of a veteran game developer, jumping from one iconic platform to another, leaving an indelible mark on each.


Veteran marketing executive Michael Engleman is leaving Paramount.

In a memo distributed on Tuesday, it was announced by Engleman, who is currently serving as the Chief Marketing Officer for both Paramount+ in the U.S. and Paramount+ With Showtime, that he will be stepping down from his position towards the end of this month.

In these types of notes, we frequently express our time spent together as a great honor and opportunity. In this instance, serving as the CMO for both Paramount+ Domestic and Showtime has undeniably been an honor. Yet, the genuine privilege lies in collaborating with you, with your endless creativity and imagination, and witnessing your inspiring drive for excellence.

Engleman’s exit occurs at a time when Paramount, on the brink of merging with Skydance, seeks opportunities for operational efficiency, particularly within its marketing departments spread throughout the company.

In 2019, Engleman joined Showtime, which was a division of CBS Corp. (before the merger with Viacom). He took on the role of Chief Marketing Officer for this premium cable network after spending three years at Turner. Later, he also managed the domestic marketing for Paramount+. Last year, Showtime was integrated into Paramount+. Before his tenure at Turner, Engleman had worked at NBCUniversal and MTV, where he started his career.

As I reflect upon the twists and turns that have led me here, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of gratitude for the journey I’ve embarked upon at Paramount Global. From the moment I joined this esteemed company, it has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride filled with exhilarating highs and humbling lows – experiences that have undeniably shaped me into the professional and individual I am today.

In similar notes, we frequently express our time spent together as a great honor and a distinct privilege. Indeed, it’s been both in this situation. Serving as the Chief Marketing Officer for Paramount+ Domestic and SHOWTIME has been an honor beyond words. Yet, the real privilege lies in collaborating with you, tapping into your limitless creativity and imagination, and being inspired by your unyielding pursuit of excellence every day.

As a gaming aficionado, I’ve been on a roll, adapting and innovating in the fast-paced world of entertainment. Coming up with fresh hits like “Yellowjackets” or “The Chi”? No sweat, I nailed it. Bidding farewell to legendary series such as “Homeland”, “Billions”, and “Shameless”? I turned it into a masterpiece. Crafting streaming giants out of events like Super Bowl LVIII or Champions League? That’s right up my alley. Breaking new ground with reboots like “Dexter”, “Halo”, or even “Frasier”… piece of cake. You get the gist, I’m exceptional. From commerce to art, I’ve always managed to defy the odds.

And I’ve no doubt you will continue to win.   

As I reflect on my career journey, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia as this marks the end of my third chapter at Paramount – a place that has played a significant role in shaping my professional growth and experiences over the years. It all started when I embarked on my career adventure at MTV many moons ago, and yet, it feels like just yesterday. The allure of this dynamic industry has always been irresistible, drawing me back time and time again.

I’m excited to see how you carry that spirit into the future. 

I’ll be cheering for you from afar, grateful to have been arm and arm for as long as we were.
