As a dedicated gamer with a soft spot for psychological thrillers, I’m beyond excited about the news that Paramount+ U.K. & Ireland have greenlit a second season of “The Ex-Wife”! The first season left me on the edge of my seat with its complex web of lies and deceit, and I can’t wait to see what twists and turns await in the upcoming episodes.
The UK and Irish versions of Paramount+ have announced the renewal of psychological thriller series “The Ex-Wife” for a second season.
Katie McGrath, known for her role as Supergirl, is set to star in the lead position as Jen. meanwhile, Celine Buckens and Tom Mison reappear in their previous roles as Tasha and Jack respectively. Jordan Stephens, who has previously acted in “Tucked” and “Foundation,” is slated to return for another round as Sam.
In the initial series, inspired by Jess Ryder’s eponymous novel published in October 2022, the story revolves around Tasha, a young bride married to Jack who seems content in their marriage. However, Tasha is tormented by Jack’s former wife, Jen, with whom he maintains a deep connection. As deceit surrounding fertility and infidelity unfolds, the plot reaches a tragic climax with a car accident suspected to have taken Emily, the couple’s young daughter, away from them.
In the second season, which is currently underway in Cyprus for filming, we find ourselves three years after the thrilling finale of the first series. Tasha and her daughter Emily are in hiding on the island, having started anew with assumed identities. Yet, their peaceful existence is disrupted when Tasha receives news that Jack has been released from prison ahead of schedule, having served just a year of his term. The summary continues: “Despite Jack’s apparent transformation, Tasha is compelled to leave her new life behind. Trust becomes a significant issue as each character grapples with the question: can anyone truly change?”
As a big fan of this captivating four-part series, I’d be happy to share some behind-the-scenes insights! This intriguing production is a collaborative effort between Clapperboard Studios, Blackbox Multimedia, and Night Train Media. Clapperboard and Blackbox Multimedia worked together to bring this masterpiece to life, while Night Train Media takes charge of distributing it globally with the assistance of All3Media International.
Sebastian Cardwell, Paramount’s U.K. deputy chief content officer, expressed his excitement about collaborating once more with Clapperboard, Blackbox Media, and Night Train for the second season of “The Ex-Wife.” The initial installment was a massive hit, and he assured viewers that they can anticipate even more surprises this time around.
