As a seasoned gamer of crime thrillers and a devoted follower of British television, I can hardly contain my excitement over Paramount+’s upcoming original series, The Crow Girl! With an all-star cast that includes Eve Myles, Katherine Kelly, Dougray Scott, and Elliot Edusah, this six-part thriller promises to be a rollercoaster ride of suspense and intrigue.
Paramount+ has released first-look images of the upcoming U.K. original series The Crow Girl with Eve Myles, Katherine Kelly, Dougray Scott and Elliot Edusah.
The six-episode thriller, a screen version of Erik Axl Sund’s critically acclaimed book with the same title, is brought to life by the award-winning production team behind shows like “Irvine Welsh’s Crime” and “Marcella.” (Paraphrased)
As mysterious, battered corpses of young, unidentified males crop up throughout the urban landscape, laced with the anesthetic lidocaine, Detective Chief Inspector Jeanette Kilburn (Myles) and her partner, Detective Inspector Lou Stanley (Scott), embark on a pursuit for the responsible party.
Under mounting pressure to solve the case due to the lack of concrete evidence, detective Jeanette seeks assistance from Dr Sophia Craven, the psychotherapist of prime suspect Carl Lowry. Dr Craven presents a new but concerning viewpoint about the case. Meanwhile, with the killer seemingly getting closer, Jeanette and her team are in a hurry to unravel the intricate web of secrets before it’s too late.
Completing the lineup for the series are Clara Rugaard (known for I am Mother, Press Play, The Rising), who takes on the role of Victoria Burkeman; Victoria Hamilton (recognized in COBRA, The Crown, Life) steps into the character of superintendent Verity Pound; and Chloé Sweetlove, famed from My Husband’s Double Life, Tutankhamun, Our Fathers, portrays Madeleine.
Milly Thomas developed the television series herself, penning four episodes and also assuming the role of executive producer. Charles Martin and Rebecca Rycroft were tapped as directors in this project. Meanwhile, Tony Wood and Richard Tulk-Hart serve as executive producers under Buccaneer, with Andy Mosse overseeing production for the series.
The show “The Crow Girl” is jointly created and broadcasted by ITV Studios. It was greenlit by Sebastian Cardwell, the UK’s deputy head of content, and Paul Testar, the commissioning editor for Paramount+.
The show is set to premiere on the platform in both the United Kingdom and Ireland around the beginning of the next year. As for when it will stream in the U.S., those specifics have not been disclosed yet.
