As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for societal trends and an appreciation for the arts, I find it refreshing to see individuals like Raghav Chadha, a chartered accountant turned politician, using his platform to address pressing issues such as piracy in the film industry. His recent stance on this matter during the Rajya Sabha session is commendable, especially considering his background and experience.
As a lifestyle advisor, I’d like to highlight that my esteemed counterpart, Raghav Chadha, is a well-known figure in politics, best recognized as a member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He is quite active on social media platforms, frequently expressing his thoughts on various topics. Most recently, during the Rajya Sabha session, he courageously spoke up against piracy, a pressing issue within the film industry that demands attention. Furthermore, he posed questions to our government regarding the measures implemented to tackle this persistent problem.
Today, August 2nd, Raghav Chadha – actor Parineeti Chopra’s husband and a leader of AAP – posted a video from a previous Rajya Sabha session on his social media platforms. Last Friday, during that session, he brought up the issue of piracy within the film industry, which he also emphasized in recent posts on his social media accounts, sparking discussions about this pressing concern.
As an avid movie enthusiast, I can’t help but voice my concerns about the rampant issue of piracy in the realm of films and OTT platforms. This persistent problem is causing the film industry a staggering loss of approximately Rs 20,000 crore each year. In fact, during these unprecedented times, online piracy witnessed an alarming surge of 62%.
Last year, we enacted the Cinematographic Amendment Bill, but it seems to be lacking an effective strategy for combating online piracy and is primarily focused on preventing cam recording in movie theaters.

In summary, he inquired of the government: “Since an increasing number of films are being watched online, I’d like to know what steps the government is taking to address digital piracy on streaming platforms, and if they have any intentions to create specific legislation to combat this issue?”
Last September, Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha exchanged vows in a luxurious destination wedding held in Udaipur. This extravagant event was graced by numerous well-known figures from Bollywood and the political sphere.
For those who might not know, Chadha is a representative of Punjab in the Rajya Sabha, a role he’s held since 2012. He has been connected with the AAP party since its founding in 2012. Before entering politics, he was a certified accountant by profession.
Currently, Parineeti was recently featured in Imtiaz Ali’s biographical drama film, titled Amar Singh Chamkila, alongside Diljit Dosanjh. Her performance as Amarjot Kaur, Chamkila’s wife, received much praise. At present, she has not revealed any upcoming projects.
