Griffin Gaming Partners, a venture capital company specializing in gaming, has taken charge of a €12.0 million ($13.5 million) Series A funding round for Amplitude Studios, the creative minds behind the ‘Endless’ universe, by investing €10.0 million ($11.3 million).
Also participating in the financing was Bpifrance, a French public investment bank.
Established in 2011, Amplitude Studios gained ownership by Sega in 2016. However, it regained independence more recently, with the founding team reaffirming their dedication to the studio’s initial vision. They continue to employ their distinctive “triple I” approach, which emphasizes an independent spirit, innovative game design, and captivating narrative.
To expand its horizons and connect with more people worldwide, the studio intends to utilize the funds for creating fresh projects, such as the upcoming title, Endless Legend 2, jointly developed with our publishing partner, Hooded Horse.
Griffin stated that the investment would enable Amplitude to expand their workforce and intensify their efforts in community cooperation via their flagship platform, Games2Gether, which is integral to their studio’s approach to game development.
Romain de Waubert de Genlis, our CEO, stated that Amplitude was developed by an independent studio fueled by enthusiasm and a strong community. He added that partnering with Griffin allows us to regain our independence, but not in the sense of changing who we are. Instead, it’s about speeding towards the future we’ve always imagined – one where we can fully actualize our creative aspirations and provide the immersive experiences our players have come to anticipate.
Frankie Zhu, a partner at Griffin Gaming, praised Amplitude for developing “strategy games with depth and variety,” stating further that the team intends to build on their extensive expertise in this field, along with their dedicated fanbase, to produce captivating worlds.
Additionally, he highlighted the fact that the team boasts an impressive history of producing top-notch games, which have consistently received rave reviews from critics and have been adored by their fans.
The agreement supports Griffin’s strategy of expanding a collection of firms that create cutting-edge intellectual property and immersive player-centric content. Lately, the company has spearheaded a $7 million funding round for Fuse Games, an autonomous mobile game studio situated in Istanbul, Turkey.
