Prepare your posts! After a 14-year wait, one of Sony’s cherished intellectual properties and an enduring classic from the PlayStation Portable era will be released for PlayStation 4 and 5 – a highly anticipated return to this beloved game series.
As reported by Gematsu and confirmed by the listing on orbispatches.com, Patapon 3, the third installment in the cherished rhythm-strategy series from Japan Studio, is expected to become available through the PlayStation Plus Premium subscription service.
It appears that Gematsu anticipates Patapon 3 for this version to function through PSP emulation instead of showcasing any upgrades. Initially, some fans hypothesized that it could be a revamped edition due to the “Yes” listed under the remastered category in the SKU details. However, Gematsu soon debunked this idea, pointing out that the “Remaster” label is also seen on other PSP-emulated games like The Legend of Dragoon and Jeanne d’Arc, which lack actual remastered elements.
This indicates that the third Patapon game is now the last one to be released on contemporary gaming systems, following the updated versions of the initial two games, Patapon 1 and 2. It’s peculiar that only the first two games have received complete remastering treatments, while Patapon 3 lacks this label – for now.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t believe it’s been 14 years since Patapon 3 graced our PlayStation Portables! This masterpiece, born from the minds at Japan Studio and Pyramid, was undeniably another triumph, but often found itself labeled as the least powerful of the trilogy. A common complaint centered around its reliance on online features for tackling tough content, and the necessity to repeatedly delve into dungeons in search of top-tier loot.
Although it had some issues, Patapon 3 was an excellent game overall. However, due to the fact that the initial two games had simpler and more user-friendly gameplay which many fans adored, they received remastered versions, whereas Patapon 3 did not. This could be one of the reasons why Patapon 3 has taken a long time to be released on contemporary platforms.
