As a seasoned Path of Exile 2 veteran, I’ve traversed many treacherous landscapes and vanquished countless foes. Yet, none have left me quite as intrigued as the Memorial Gate in the Cemetery of the Eternals. This gate, standing tall and resolute between me and my next adventure, beckoned with a tantalizing promise of secrets yet to uncover.
In the Everlasting Cemetery, the Memorial Archway lies ahead on your route, marking the entrance to your next chapter in Path of Exile 2.
To gain access to the gate in both “Sorrow Among Stones” and “The Mysterious Shade”, you’ll need to locate and defeat two crucial enemies that offer significant resistance. Only then will the gate be open to you.
In this piece, I’ll guide you on how to locate crucial items and conquer the guards defending them. Once accomplished, you’ll be able to open the Memorial Gate, allowing you to progress further on your adventure.
How To Open The Memorial Gate In The Cemetery
Upon entering the Cemetery of the Eternals, you’ll find the Memorial Gate situated directly to the south of the Waypoint.
While the gate is large and prominent, it will be locked at first.
To progress, you must retrieve two essential items that were accidentally left behind by the bosses in separate catacomb chambers.
To open the Memorial Gate, first, collect Asinia’s Memorial Key fragment and Draven’s Memorial Key fragment.
You can find these key pieces in the Tomb of the Consort and the Mausoleum of the Praetor.
You can easily get to both dungeons from the cemetery area:
Tomb of the Consort
Make your way north-east, following the cemetery’s marker, to get to the dungeon. The ultimate enemy inside this dungeon is Asinia, who is known as the Praetor’s Companion.
She uses a mix of projectiles and AoE attacks, both well-telegraphed, so dodging is no big deal.
In the course of the battle, she additionally calls forth Draven, who is also known as the Eternal Praetor. This means that during the skirmish, you’ll have to face not one, but two commanding figures simultaneously.
After taking down Asinia, she’ll drop a Key Piece you’ll need for the quest.
Mausoleum of the Praetor
The Tomb of the Consort lies to the northeast of this dungeon, with a checkpoint nearby. You can locate Draven here.
Draven predominantly engages in close-combat, but occasionally introduces Asinia into the fray to maintain an exciting battle dynamic.
In a straightforward manner, he primarily uses strong close-combat strikes, while Asinia adds to the battlefield chaos with her area-of-effect (AoE) attacks. Therefore, when she enters the fight, you’ll need to skillfully manage both her AoE onslaughts and his melee offensives.
Once you take down Draven, the second Key Piece will drop.
After collecting both key pieces, return to the Memorial Gate.
The gate is quite near the designated spot within the cemetery on the map, but keep in mind that because of the flexible design of the map, its exact position may shift slightly.
Typically, you’ll find this place nestled on the outskirts of the zone. As you approach the entrance, remember to engage with it to unravel the mystery and swing open the Memorial Gates.
Once the Memorial Gate is unlocked, proceed deeper into the cemetery.
That’s where you’ll find Lachlann, the last boss of The Mysterious Shade quest.
Lachlann’s fight involves heavy melee swings and summons ghosts that will relentlessly attack you.
Additionally, he employs an earthquake-like shockwave you should dodge, coupled with powerful explosive ammunition.
Which boss did you find more challenging, Asinia or Draven?
